Title: hmm, do I remove my rear spoiler, pics
Post by: jameswrx on February 23, 2005, 11:28:28 AM
Trying to decide whether or not to remove my wing (with the help of some very quick paintshop messing).  Was never a fan of these style wings but to be honest I think it suits the look of the car.  As I say I like it but it\'s almost as though all the boy racers sticking them on their mums shopping car have ruined the effect.  I like the fact that this car came from Japan and roamed the steets looking like this (sort of feels like the spoiler is justified).  I guess I feel a bit embarassed having it on and I\'m getting a bit fed up trying to justify it when people comment on it.

With?

Take it off, but you are going to have to get the holes filled in for it to actually look like the picture.

Im not the biggest fan of massive stick on wings but in my opinion it seems to suit your car, i remember the pictures you posted on a previous thread and your car looks good as it is. :cool  The rx7 is one of the cars that this sort of wing doesn’t seem out of place, so there should be no need to justify it however if you stick that spoiler on a 1.2 fiat punto trying to justify why you need all the extra down force from a massive spoiler could become tricky :rollin

I too have one of these GT type spoilers (or ironing boards as they are more commonly known lol :rollin )  I personally think that they suit the look of your RX, and when you have supercar performance you don\'t need justification to have one.

The rx7 is possibly the only car these type of wings suit, yes the Chav element think they are cool with one on a corsa??? but keep it on matey looks good.

Have seen various pics of rx\'s with / without rear wings and i must say there needs to be a rear wing of some sort on the rx7 as it suits it so much :)

Keep it looks the dogs. I would say that as i\'ve got a GT carbon one as well. If you do look at all the pics of the rex it does fit the style of the car and the GT style is designed for cars over 300bhp. So when someone asks thats why you have it, cause your car is an animal. IMHO.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Peter, that looks good :cool

The thing is IMO it\'s the only spoiler that fits the car, for me it\'s either GT style or no spoiler at all.  I really don\'t think the standard rear fits with the shape of the car.  Saying that though I have seen one \'normal\' style spoiler I like but I can\'t remeber where it comes from (it looks standard\'ish but has a carbon adjustable centre section)

I suppose I should just leave it and forget what everyone else thinks, just getting old

I wish I still had my carbon wing...

But the wingless is ok too.

If you dont want to look riceboy but have more force,
Get a re-a diffuser.

They really make a difference.

Russ.

The way I see it, is that this wing isnt a GT style wing.

The swoopy curvy sculptures of carbon are cool (and similar to GT cars).  A bit flat sheet of metal with no shape isnt.

If it were a carbon GT wing, id have said keep it (as long as the car could pull it off).  At least the one you have got it long though which is good.

I\'m in exactly the same position. My GT wing finally arrived after about 8 months but now I like the smooth look so much I don\'t think I\'m gonna fit it. Without a spoiler the car almost looks like it was styled by Zagato.

Talking of rear spoilers, i\'ve just received my ready painted newer spec Mazda spoiler from www.japanparts.com (http://www.japanparts.com)
OK ,it ain\'t no big carbon jobbie, but visiting people requires some finesse!!:rollin

Definately get rid of the wing. Noticed you\'ve already lost the rear wiper, so you\'re already partly set up to loose the wing. We bought our white RX from Ross and one of the reasons we liked the car was that it didn\'t have a rear wing.

Keep the wing......if mine didnt have it, i would feel naked

But serious, i reckon it looks good with a huge wing off the back.

Mines got a c-west ally one, but its coming off soon for a just as big c-west carbon one :D
