Title: Boost Gauge
Post by: hawker182 on February 22, 2005, 01:54:32 AM
Ok after cleaning her up and taking her for her 1st drive today i have noticed the stock dash boost gauge does not work, doesnt even budge at the slightest, any ideas? You can feel the boost from the turbo kick in whilst driving and i cant hear any hiss, although i prob wouldnt whilst driving. Anything i can check b4 strippin her down to have a proper look. Also any ideas on fitting an after market boost gauge? Just need to know where to go from the engine, where to fit the t peice and best way to route it through to the dash

Regards Adam :)

humm not sure about the normal boost gauge - but the aftermarket one is a doodle to do

find the pipe that runs to the presure sensor on the driver shock tower

follow that pipe back

then all did , is where it met a T peice - added a short bit of pipe and another T peice - then ran the boost gauge off that

ran the tube thru the passenger side fire wall ( thru a rubber gromet that was already there )

then im gonna try and put my boost gauge above the radio somewhere

its really simple to do - 10 mins job max ( prob more if you want it light up with the lights though - but you can spike that from the fag lighter light feed )

hope this helps

Ahh excellent thought it\'d be something like that but now i know for sure...thanks very much. Just gotta decide where to mount it, dont really like pillar gauges and cant remove the center fans cause i\'ll freeze me tits off with the roof off :rollin

Any good buys/bad buys on gauges? so many out there dont wanna buy one thats a pig to fit/use

i think the boost gauges are all the same to be honest - i have a TIM one - and it does what it says on the tin !

just stick the gauge in a pod and mount it somewhere near the idiot lights on the centre of the dash ( cant think of its proper name ! )

or if you have enough tubing - put it on the right hand side of the dash ??

or do what i did , sit in the car with the gauge and keep putting it places and decide if you like it or not ( thats why mine bounces round the passenger footwell - as i cant decide yet )

lol yeah sounds like the best plan. Will pop round the local motorport place later and pick one up and then sit and play until happy. Top dash mounted not sure but who knows will get my creativity hat out for this one, idiot lights that they are

"Yes i know i have my seat belt off" lol

Will let ya know where she ends up cheers :p
