Title: Dreading today (engine rebuild)
Post by: Eddie on February 21, 2005, 05:28:16 PM
Had my car booked into WGT today for them to check out what I thought was going to be bad news, engine rebuild time:(

The car has been chucking coolant out of the filler neck and loads of steam, for quite some time now, I was having to fill it up  quite abit every ride which as we know is a worry, I wish I would have got it looked at earlier now.

Took the car down for Pip to have a look at and for once good news:)
He checked for hydrocarbons in the coolant and nothing:)  2 mins later and Pip had it figured out, all that had hapened is that the top of the  filler neck had a thin crack in it, very hard to see but it was seeping coolant.
15 quid later and a new one in place and all is well, got a Alloy AST whilst I was at Pips, nice bit of kit.

I can not recomend WGT enough, top service top people very pleased indeed:)

Pip took it for a spin and he gave it the Okay

I could not beleive my luck, I was dreading the worst, I had even started to price up replacment engines:) and rebuild kits.

I can spend   the money on a kit and an apexi and commander now:)

Always best to get the experts have a look

lucky you, was it compression tested as well ?

I am not sure about the compression test, he shouted me in to the work shop to show me the crack in the filler neck and to let me know I had no hydrocabons in the coolant, he then had it another two hours or so and said he was going to check it out fully, I did a runner into Northwich at that point for a look around.
As I got back he was driving past me, its always a strange feeling watching someone pass in your pride and joy.

I was so happy I probably didn\'t ask all the right questions when I got given my keys back, but he gave it the A okay which comming form Pip is great news.

cheers

Thanks Trevor,
Not soon hopefuly:) for some strange reason I was quite looking forward to it:) not that I wanted to spend money and loads of time but out of morbid interest really.

At least I know how to do it now thanks to your help and advise, so when I do have to do it:) I can.
