Title: Turbo\'s, I Think!!!
Post by: jetpilot on June 20, 2003, 08:55:16 PM
Just had my first real run in the country with my recently purchased RX 7, 3rd Gen. BUT!! There seems to be a problem, the first turbo seems to spin up a treat but then all seems to get a bit(technical term here) fuzzy, it does not seem to rev freely and is almost hesitating, like its being starved of something or the turbo is not spinning properly. I have got a massive hole in the back box, wether this makes any difference i dont know, would be nice cause its probably the cheapest to sort i would imagine. So anyone with any ideas or has this happened to anyone before. Please please HELP!!

Hi mate,

Firstly - if it is hesitating and carrying on, do not give it a hard time.  It could be something like a blocked fuel injector, bad fuel etc.

It could really be any number of things going on.  It would be a good idea to have a specialist to have a look at it.  I think //www.reworx.co.uk is probably your closest rotary place.

.ps Your hole in the exhaust wouldn\'t cause many problems, but if it is a blocked exhaust then it could well be the thing causing the probs.

Hi, thanks for the quick response. Just to let you know i spoke to re-worx or were really helpfull, suggested it might be the back box or hole in it that is. Since i am waiting for the new one to arrive i got the hole patched and welded and hey presto, turbo number 2 comes in as sweet as a nut. Just thought i might be able to help anyone with the same or similar problem. Thanks for the help though.

Hi mate!

So, you had a hole in the rear muffler/back box - had it welded up and now you get more boost?

Sounds wierd, if anything it should give you less boost, do you have a boost gauge on it?

.ps Glad it is fixed - but I\'m
