Title: One on eBay... should I?

Sounds in pretty good nick and the seller seems alright too...

What should I pay if it seems sound when I go and look at it? Anything in partic I should look for?

The seller is not a member here, I asked!

big issue is rust. Check the sills (which are conveniently obscured by the skirts!) on the underside - they seem to go there, also on the inside under the door edges check the carpet for damp as rust appears under the carpet and eventually eats into the sill. Otherwise just find out where the rebuild was done , etc, etc

The front nose looks a slightly different shade of white from the rest of the car,   maybe its just the picture though, have a check for any accident damage to the front.   I had a quick check at the prices on autotrader and they seem to be from around £2000 to £4000 but the specs and mileage vary. :)

Rusty sills, well, that\'s nothing new on Jap cars of an age

Forgot to say I\'d already asked about the rebuild - Hatfields in Sheffield apparently - sounds like it\'s always been serviced by them too. If the paperwork backs up the impression I get that she\'s owned it for years, could be on to a winner. SWYM about the front tho...

Oh, and no bidding wars please you buggers, I saw it first ;)

I\'d be surprised if it gets over £1500 on ebay as I\'ve seen a few TIIs go for not a lot on ebay recently

Tell me about it, just extended mine to a 10 day auction becuase no one has been interested.  Probably wrong of me to put it on ebay.  I have 15 people watching but i expect thats 15 guys from here.

looks neat enough !

i will re-itterate CHECK FOR RUST

check all the sills on the car

check the front jacking points

check all round the rear arches

not to sounds daft - but get under it and spend a good 10 mins looking for rust

have a look for a thread called "dis-heartened" on here - and thats what happens if you dont look !!

oh and when looking for rust use a screw driver or something, under seal can hide alot of things, and also i think ive seen that car up on ebay not too long ago as my bro was after it. be carefull either way.

It looks pretty tidy, although I will definately agree with you on the nose cone being a different colour. Check the radiator support panel for a different colour or any visible damage. Possibly also the inner wing buhind front wheels for signs of creasing from a front impact. If the panels line up and the panel gap is regular than it might be fine. Make sure the bonnett suts properly etc.
Otherwise good luck. Hope it is good in the flesh.
  cheers, michael.

And it is an auto:(

I noticed that white one when it was first listed, it does look very nice, would defintely make a good track car.

Good luck,

Paul:)

Wav ,

would it matter being an auto though ?

if its for a track car are you constantly up and down the gears ( i dont know - never done a track day ! )

im sure that it could be changed over to a manual at the end of the day

The car \'looks\' generally ok from the pic\'s.
A good sighn it has the red \'Turbo\' decals on the wings as they are hard to replace, so it may suggest that theyre orig.
Front seems to missing front \'chin/bib\' that the last cars had
fitted.I would be supprised if the car had a new turbo prob.
just checked out at the time of rebuild.
The car will have some rust.
Check the electrics in particular if youre keeping thing stock
like the wipper switch and abs working ok.
All the sun roofs stick dont worry about that its just tuff.
Good to see the orig. wheels.
Oh and look at the exhaust theyre not cheap, and cheap
replacments burn/blow through quite quick.
Almost tempted myself :rollin
Good luck on your search!
Paul..

Ta chaps...

She\'s not answered me email about going to see it, so I\'ll not be crawling under anything just now by the looks of it! :( Shame, cos it\'s a UK car. Then again I\'d gone off the idea of spending Saturday on the M6 anyway.

It\'ll be a sort of track car ish in a pointless waste of money project car kind of way... but also, it will be a 7, and that\'s the main thing. :)

Should say I\'m looking for one with the stock turbo(s) as well, because I\'ll be tuning for response and handling, not power, in order to better terrify the locals around Rivvy. ;)

Stu, I\'m off on me jollies next week but when I\'m back I\'ll definitely take you up on that offer - was thinking of posting anyway! Ta!

Have to see what autos drive like really... but there\'s nothing as satisfying as heel-and-toe through two gears and coming off the brakes exactly at the turn-in point - can\'t imagine it\'s half as much fun in an auto. Oh, and no OOOSHing between ratios either. :D

I\'ve emailed the Bolton one, and it had a new engine at 60k, he says...

Hi, hows about the convertable in the for sale section on this forum. Think it is Clive that is selling it. Looks pretty good and since it is down at Carls place there would be an expert on hand to help out! My money would go to the convert.
Now I will be like Grinder and keep out of this thread:D

Get back from holiday and find out that 20-odd posts have been placed "at risk" in my absence... and I\'m one of them! :o

So I\'ll not be buying any new toys at all after all that :(

Track day already paid for tho ;)
