Title: new guy asking a few questions
Post by: rx7-bling on February 15, 2005, 03:10:46 PM
Hi everyone. :wave
New guy to the RX7 seen, although I dont ave an RX7, yet! :p

I currently have a Celica GT4 and a BMW 535i.  Both pretty quick, the GT4 is at about 260bhp now :cool   and the BM 210bhp (a 3.5 is so juicy, but torquey,:)  ).

Anyways, i wnated to check a few thing with you guys.

Is there a good website for all the tech info on the 3rd gen?
I dont want to hassle you too much for info, i know what its like from the GT4 forum.

And on the reliability side of things I have hurt that the cooling system is not the best.  RX7\'s run hot i relieve?
So a new thermostate that opens soon would be a good idea?? Maybe even a larger rad??

Someone said the eletrics are not earth as well as it could be, so maybe something like re-earthing the block and the fuelrail would e good??

Well thanks in advance, all help is appreciated and any buying advice would be great as well.

I will sell my GT4 and 535i and get about £5000 but i might put some of that down and get the rest on finance if its any more than that.

CHEERS!  :D

http://www.rx7.org/Robinette/index.htm is very good mate.

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/index.html also good.

On techy questions, hit the search button on the middle right of the screen and you should find answers to some of your questions.

On the temperature thing, its best to modify by uprating to aluminium rads and getting good air intake into the engine bay. Not sure about playing with the thermostat to be honest...

Electrics, a simple earth kit can do the job, never had any probs with mine and it doesnt have an earth kit (touch wood ;) )

Try and get a rx7 with a recent engine rebuild. If you do searches on this site then there is a lot of good advice for purchasing your first rx7

Good luck

thanks alot,

good advice and a good welcome, thanks.

Anyone wanna buy a GT4?  :rollin

Am i right in thinking that the tips dont last very long?
say alot less than 100,000 miles?  RX8 tips are a good upgrade are they?

And the specs....  the Type-R is the best is it?  about 276bhp standard??

Hopefully i\'ll buy an RX7 soon and get the pics up.  :D

thanks again.
