Title: Bubbling noise??
Post by: feelio on February 14, 2005, 11:47:25 AM
Hey all,
I\'m most definatly a newbie!
I\'m looking at buying a 93\' 3rd gen from a dealer near ipswich. The cars got  low miles and seems to run smooth and proper. After a test drive the car was turned off and as I looked round it again, I noticed a bubbling noise from the engine. The guy said its normal for these cars as the water jacket round the engine is so close to the surface of the block as it were.
Can anyone tell me if this is "normal"???

Mine does exactly the same, and I\'ve been told this is normal....but I\'m really not convinced it\'s a good thing. I\'ve replaced my 13psi rad cap with a 16psi one to try and stop the coolant from boiling but I run my car so infrequently I haven\'t had chance to see if it\'s worked. As for the dealers explanation, he\'s just trying to baffle you with nonsense.

Thankx millspeed,

At least I know theres someone out there with the same strange noise.....it can\'t be that bad!!!!!

Let me know if you can if that 16psi cap sorts it.

Cheers

After a run (doesn\'t need to be hard), I park up in the garage with the bonnet up, and always hear a bubbling noise. Presumably due the high heat that rotaries generate, that isn\'t now being removed by the radiator, and is starting to raise the temp of the coolant and building pressure. I don\'t like it, but not much I can do, apart from spend loads of cash fitting electric water pumps and all that! I\'ve had the noise on both my 7\'s.
