Hi, im new to the forums and Mazda\'s themselves only just brought my first mazda an RX8. I was wondering if anyone could tell me was there ever a UK SPEC (version) of the TT RX7?
If so where i may find one and things to look out for on them.

There certainly was, is the quick answer, but there\'s not many of them around.
Things to look out for - probably best searching on here. In partic, the turbo plumbing is complicated and everyone therefore has problems with the boost pattern. (Try searching for "boost pattern" and you\'ll see what I mean...)
The actual block and low level bits of the engine are pretty similar between the 7 and 8, believe it or not.
The other thing to watch out for is over twice the torque of the 8s, can\'t quite drive it the same way around roundabouts ;)
Finally if you see a cheap one, you can\'t have it, cos I want it!
Every decent UK spec of jap models seem to be rare, ive managed to obtain a skyline gtr34 v-spec and toyota supra tt uk spec but im having great difficulty finding a uk spec RX7 are they ever advertised on here? if not do you know of any sites that would be usefull?
Also if you dont mind answering was there any distinguishable difference between the UK and Jap Spec (with my skyline and supra there where numerous technical and mechanical differences)

Hmm, probably not many left now of the reputed 120-150 or however many were sold in the UK.
Look out for rust - the only rusty FDs I\'ve seen were both UK cars! Most are also high milers now which means looking at all the bushes, shocks, box, motor etc.
Otherwise all the same probs as the JDM cars but a bit less poke.
easiest way to spot them as i recall (not to say other cars wont necessarily have them also) sunroof, fog lights either side of the rear no plate & seat goes all the way back...

Hi and welcome from all at MRC.
I have had a UK or for its correct term "European spec" car for 6 years.
Most obvious differences to see quickly are the different Mazda badges and different rear end to incorporate fog lamps and rectangular rear number plate.
There are lots of other differences like they had an extra cat, which sadly gave them less power than imports, and even different ECU\'s.
These cars are all one spec and are fully loaded with leather cruse etc, some say the spec was to high and were to dear to produce. ( l have an official European spec list somewhere if you really wanted to get keen)
Due to the 968 porche coming out at the same time Mazda never even tried to sell these cars over here and there was only ever 124 cars ever sold in the UK ( official Mazda numbers) the figure was worse out in Europe with for instance only 26 sold in France.
Mazda did bring two other prototypes over that were 2 single Turbo cars for evaluation but one was crashed immediately and to the cost of Mazda motors who were importers at the time were made by Mazda to ship the wreck and the good one back immediately, shame because this would have given this car true super car status with some real power.
