Hey...
..i know this question has been asked and answered a thousand times, but i need new front speakers for my FD. I\'m gonna be strippin out the old ones, replacing them and putting some sound proofing in...
...any previous threads on front speakers have been helpful, but the links to stores are dead. Need speakers that go straight in due to the clearance for the electric windows..anybody bought a set recently from a website??
Next thing i need is where to buy sound proofing from??Think its called brown bread/bead/bear....... :-(
Thanks
Marc
Hi, good place to look is //www.talkaudio.co.uk forum for some info. I would say your best bet is to find a local audio shop that sells dynamat extreme. Its a thicker version of dynamat and you can use just one layer with great effect. Also a really good way of improving base is to use some wadding (father christmas beard) as a cover over the back of the speaker, 0.5in would do. Over cut and use the screws to hold it in position. It alters the sound setup and makes base much better. I\'ve got some 6.25in components in with some 6mm MDF adapters. Quite an easy job to make. I\'m currently trying to fit the same size in the back (need to take it to bits and hack the brackets a bit )
Good luck !!!
Shaun
cheers shaun
I\'ve registered for that forum, very helpful stuff...next question for people is what is the maximum length that you can get for the front speaker without hindering the electric windows???
I\'m going for straight replacements ie 13cm, but if i\'ve got an idea of the length then i can buy the stuff needed before stripping the doors down.

Shaun,......whats this wadding idea you are on about?
Do you mount the speakers on it........and can you do the same things with Subs aswell??
Cheers,
Dan!!
Wadding can be found at most material shops. Its used to pack cusions and stuff. It is a white mat material that comes in various thicknesses. Most of the time its used in sub boxes to fool the sub into thinking the box cavity is bigger than it actually is. Its usually listed as loose fill percentage on subs when calculating box size. But if you cut a circle of it just big enough to fit over the frame of the speaker and screw it down in place it helps add air pressure to the back of the speaker instead of disapaiting into the door cavity.
Ive packed the space behind the back speakers to improve the mids in the back. Still got the fronts to do. I use Mbquartz RSB218\'s in the front in the standard mount with a 9mm MDF spacer. Not sure just how deep they are ! But they don\'t clash with the window. Not used any sound deadening yet, extremely heavy stuff

i see what your saying shaun.......gonna pm ya, i need some help with my instal project:D
Dan!!
No problem, but i\'m still learning just how small the spaces in the rx7 are. Hell i\'ve always had plenty of room to play with !! I had more room in my AXGT !
