The boost gauge on my late model 7 has worked since I bought the car.
Just had the dash apart, and the kph to mph chip (and presumably delimited) has 2 wires going to the boost gauge terminals. I\'ve just taken the wires off, and turned theignition back on.......boost gauge now works!
But now the chip is not wired in.
Does anyone know how to wire these chips in properly (I might just point out that I did not put this in, it was done when the car was imported)......in other words, what terminals the wires are attached to behind the dash?
Cheers
Andrew
I have done a couple of these but never put the mph converter to the boost guage, all the wires usually go to the speedo but i am afraid i cannot remember which way round.
Just read my original post....it should read the boost gauge has NOT worked since I got the car!
Anyway.....thanks for the reply.
The chip had 2 wires going to a terminal marked IGN (presumably ignition), and BOOST+. What I reckon the monkey that fitted it did, was mistake hte line for the boost+ for the ground next to it. I tooka chance and wired it to the ground....hey presto.....boost gauge that now works!! Need to check the chip still works and is converting to miles...it\'ll be a bugger if it isn\'t!
Anyway, gave the ol\' girl a whiz round the block, and with foot on the floor, the gauge reads max boost.....around 10 kPa (converts to around 14psi or about 1 bar). :) I\'m assuming this is correct, I\'ve read various articles that state boost in the late RX7s was increased upto 13psi, so bearing in mind the possible inaccuracies of the stock Mazda gauge and me reading it while hanging on as the car launches itself up the road  , I can assume it is boosting as it should!
(Sigh of relief!)
So is your chip working now and reading in MPH, I have the instructions if you need them?
Cheers
I haven\'t been out far enough to check the mileage calibration, but I am sure the chip is working....the speedo was definately reading 30mph rather than 30 khp (30kph being just under 20mhp, so would definately notice the difference!)
When I check the mileage this week, if it is out, then I will give you a shout!
Cheers,
Andrew
