what do you guys think was planing 99 spec but thought i can try afterburner style first then decide which of the two i like best, going to build them up put the bulbs in and have a look:D
not bigga fan of that, but that\'s personal taste. If you\'re not sure do it with tape and put them on. See if you still like it then
centre is vynal so if i dont like it then off it comes :D
Nice one Gavin it\'s good to see people trying something a little differn\'t, I think they look good, it would be nice to see the lit up version as well, tail on then brake light on.
Arn\'t the covers for the rears a pig to get off:) I did custom job on mine ages ago and remember the fun with the heat gun.
Cheers
yeh pig of a job burnt fingers all round
will be trying with the lights on in 5 minutes
results are in still undecided,
another
without the cover
Well I like it (I think, would have to see it in the flesh for sure).
Normally I hate stuff people do like this but I think as youve kept it simple and close to the kouki lights it works well.
Hi Gavin
I really like them mate, only thing I am not sure about is the way the light around the ring is not uniformed, they seem to be brighter on certain sides probably a bulb posistion thing.
If you are feeling adventures and fancy a go have a look at the ones I custom did a while ago, may be worth it if you like them.
Looka tt he full thread for the finished article, they went through many changes:)
I also have the lenses in the first mail I did not use if you want them you can have them for the postage cost.

They do look good Gavin a job well done mate.
Thoguht I show you the thread as I went through loads of changes and updates and everyones input really helped me decide what I liked and what was best.
Its good to see people taking the plunge and trying something out which is new, this is the only way we can improve what is already a beast of a car:)
The lights on the rex I feel look dated which is why like you I took the plunge to bring it up to date.
Cant wait to see them in the flesh if your at a meet in the future.
Cheers
cheers eddie
ment to say i had followed your thred when you first did it realy inspired me to have a go, but wasnt brave enough to hack all the old out and retro fit new pieces,
would love to try and come down to a show this year not many rex in scotland, :)
i\'ve seen these on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=23010&item=7952454202&rd=1 and im not a big fan of them as they stand, but what i was wondering is if i spayed them with some light tint so they looked like standard rear lights would the light get through ok still as im guessing they would need a couple of coats?
tint spray http://www.gbdriver.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_tailtint_55.html
Not a bad idea, I think they are too in your face those lights but tinting them I think would look nice.
I have used the tint spray on other vehicles sorry I had to admit that:( not a huge fan of the stuff but it does the trick just about, not the best of finishes.
I think a better way to go maybe is to remove the lenses and get the inside actually tinted with the stuff you tint windows with.
You can pick various shades of tinit that way and you should not see through it and you will get a nice gloss finish, but when lit the tint should should allow most of the light through, Thats rpobably the way I would go.
