Title: Tech questions for Mazda .
Post by: clive on June 17, 2003, 10:42:11 PM
Hi All,

Had a long meeting with a Mazda employee on Sunday in Dorset ,discussed many things some of which were about Rotorstock and also if there was any tech advances with the RX-8 that may help the older RX-7 models, so they have said if we put together a set of questions they will do their utmost to give us the answers we require in addition they have now stated they are keen to continue a relationship with MRC and recognise the mutual benefits from this so hopefully this will benefit all Rotary owners as time goes on .

Anyway questions ,l will start with /

Are the new 2 piece tips now available a spin off from RX-8 technology ?

Will the six speed box fit an earlier Rotary.

Will the carbon fibre prop fit FD\'s

Offset and pitch of the wheels

Will the brakes fit if they are better ( from what l have seen the suspension looks very FD)

Plus obviously any questions about the RX-8 itself.

So what do you all  want to know ????? now\'s your chance.

All the best Clive

good thinking Clive ... I will try and get hold of Chuck Nicholson (or whatever his real name is :) )   and ask if he will put somthing in writing for the club about his exploits RX7 racing ... he was also the guy who tried to revive the prost F1 team and failed :(

Great stuff Clive.

Few questions:

1. Can you please find out the type of oil they are using - any why they have now switched to Synthetic (may be more of a question for the people in Japan?)

2. Same stud pattern for the wheels?

3. Type of differential?

4. Are the diff. ratios the same for the low power model and high power?

5. See if you can find out about any planned power increases for the UK market.

6. Be good to find out about the gearbox compatibilty, but I have a feeling it will be different.

7. Any plans with a Le Mans effort with Pro-drive (just thought I would slip that one in there!)

8. When will bodykits be available here?

9. Are Mazda planning to sell aftermarket products through Mazdaspeed (I think they are in the States).  i.e. Body kits, wheels?, engine performance bits - exhaust etc.

Think that is it for now.

Clive - one important thing.  Why is it only 231hp?  and not 250hp?

Will there be the ability to build or buy a 3 rotor version of the new engine?
