Post by: TonyBlair on February 04, 2005, 01:40:42 PM
I know this car is coming down the road before I\'ve even seen it. It\'s drove by the office where I work quite a few times now, I now recognise the sound of the exhaust  ;)

Who is the man in the red car?

Cheers
Jon

Hi Danny,

I\'ve only seen one other Rex in Clacton, and that was just a few times several months ago. I quite liked the idea that I was the only Rex owner in Clacton. I guess we\'ll have to share the status of our rare cars.

Mines J plate Silver 3rd Gen. I doubt that you\'ve seen me about though. I\'ve only driven the car one Saturday out of about 3 months of owning it :( It took me ages to sort the car to get it to pass an MOT, insurance proved to be an absolute nightmare, and now the twin\'s have gone. I\'ve having to replace them myself which is taking a long time; http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12633

How long have you owned yours? Had any problems with it at all?

Hopefully I\'ll see you out and about once I\'m back on the road.

Cheers
Jon

Hi jon

Sorry to hear about the grief you are having but stick with it mate it\'ll be worth it mine makes me grin every time i go out in it.
I\'ve had mine nearly a year now its red looks standard but i\'ve caught the modifying bug and cant stop buying a new part every payday. The only problem i\'ve had is the clutch went 3 months ago but i was\'nt surprised considering the abuse she gets.

Hope you get her sorted soon and if you need a hand getting the twins back on give me a shout.

Cheers danny

Hi Danny,

It probably isn\'t you then - must be another Rex.

Maybe once I\'m back on the road I\'ll be able to meet up with you for a pint or something, and actually see your red Rex. I\'m always keen to meet other Jap performance car enthusiasts.

As for when she will be running again, it\'s really diffcult to say. My twin-turbo\'s have come back from the turbo refurbishing place, but they have been deemed as non-repairable, due to "impact damage". It\'s not too drastic about the turbo\'s, since a lot of people upgrade to a big single, meaning there\'s plenty of used twin\'s going begging.

However, I\'m keen to find out what this "impact damage" is all about. I\'ll find out more when I pick the turbo\'s up today/tomorrow. I just hope I haven\'t blown a rotor tip. :reallymad

Hi Jon

Just seen your thread about rotor tips dont know if you\'ve
had any dealings with nemesis but I\'ve used them for the past year now and have\'nt any complaints im sure they could help you out.Yan is the man to see and they are only 15 mins from you.

Good luck
Danny

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have heard of Nemesis. I\'ve been told that Yan is the guy to speak to.

To be honest if I had the money I\'d get the Rex sent off to a specialist straight away. But I haven\'t at the moment :(  So all the repair work is gonna be DIY. Which I tend to enjoy, however it\'s the wrong time of the year to be outside working on cars.

I\'m gonna spend this Sunday doing whatever I can to her. Mayeb buy some second hand turbo\'s next weeek so I can have her running next weekend.

Cheers
Jon
