Title: For the sake of the ignorant
Post by: Daiscooby_1 on February 01, 2005, 03:26:21 PM
Hello

I have a 94 with some mods

HKS Induction
HKS BOV
Hard Pipes everywhere
Uprated Intercooler
De-Cat 4.5" Exhaust

I have had it a year now and it has always \'run rich\'. It has always had tendancy to pop and bang a fair bit even under mild driving. It has 70Klms so 39Kmls ish on the clock. I have covered 9K miles since Jan 04 It has had two services, fluids and all filters inc fuel,  and going in for its third and MOT today. Not with an \'RX\' specialist but an ex Group N mechanic who has done all my performance cars since 1990. Recently I have noticed it has taken a while to settle to idle at 1000 revs on first start of the morning, I has been going to 1400 on cold start and settlling by degrees after about 5 mins at idle or driving then idle. But this has only been in the cold weather. The car always starts first time hot or cold with no encouragement and runs very well, even though I am told I drive like my granny :)

Does any of the above seem out of place to anyone ?.

I know ****e all about Rotary\'s after 6 years in Scooby\'s and 6 years in Supra\'s before that and reading this forum for the last 3 months has made me a touch paranoid to say the least

Help and advice for the ignorant please :thumb:

Sounds pretty normal to me - mine\'s got an Apexi ECU and it idles at ~2k initially and, like yours drops in little jumps until it\'s warmed up.  Takes over 5 mins sitting still for it to settle at the usual idle of ~800 rpm.

Mines the same too. It\'s starts fine and idles at around 2k rpm, and slowly drops the revs to just under the 1k - this takes around 3-5 minutes.

Cheers
