Title: Warranty Advice
Post by: tailz on January 31, 2005, 05:00:00 PM
Had the RX about a year now and the 12 month warranty needs renewing. The company I was with has gone bust and RAC Mechanical Insurance Services Ltd has taken over.

Problem - they claim only to provide warranty for cars 10 years and mine is a \'94.

The recent compression test showed the engine was \'tired\' - all between 5 and 6, so want to play safe and get warranty.

Anyone got any advice for best companies and if they have had a payout based on mechanical failure i.e. rebuild (I know they will only pay the first £1k or so).

Thanks

Tailz

Warranty\'s won\'t cover wear and tear.

If the engine does go, you\'re likely to spend alot of time arguing this with the warranty company.

I was told when I bought my car that the Gold Warrnaty cover etc etc would cover a rebuild

Then I found out the claim limit was 1k

Then I found out 1k wouldn\'t cover a rebuild and also the warranty specifically didn\'t cover it anyway

Honest Bloke that garage chap !
