Title: engine condensation
Post by: Scot on January 31, 2005, 01:53:16 PM
HI guys, Im getting white gunk in the oil filler car/neck which tells me their is water in the engine, but no sign of it in the oil dipstick, My friendly mechanic tells me this is just condensation in the block, not a problem, just hard to get rid of....

Just wondered if anybody else has experienced this?

The other thing is that my water Temp light has been flickering occasionally, I\'ve checked the water/oil and both are fine. Did panic a bit thinking they were both related! But its inconsistant, so one day it will flick on for under a second while driving hard, the next do it in a 30 zone! Also i\'ve been monitoring the water temp itself, which dosnt seem to budge at alll

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Although no-one can definitively say you have a problem or not with the emulsion, this is very common. I had it on my 92 3rd gen (covered 120k miles before I sold it) , and I still have it on my 02 3rd gen (only 5k on the clock). I also remember other people asking the same question on this and other forums, and many answers are the same - it is a common thing.

But as with everything, just because I didn\'t have a problem, doesn\'t mean you don\'t! If it helps, have it checked!

Cheers,
Andrew
