Title: Pressure problems???
Post by: kevrev on January 31, 2005, 12:03:05 AM
Hi everyone just brought a 1998 import rx7.

Starts fine i get around 4 bar pressure reading from the oil gauge but after it has warm up and i come to a stop it drops down to 0, when i pull off it goes up agian, just wondered if this was normal, or is it problem???

Also if anyone has got handy tips for keeping the car in tip top condition, would be most grateful! (extreme newbie)

The stock oil pressure gauge is notorious for being inaccurate so I wouldn\'t pay it much heed. However, is the oil level correct? These cars do consume a certain amount of oil due to the way the rotors are lubricated and it\'s important to keep an eye on it. Also, as you\'ve just bought the car I\'d get the oil and filter changed straight away as you won\'t know for sure whether it\'s been done recently.

Hi Kev and welcome to MRC,

If you look under the oil filter you will see a push on terminal, I have read that the symptom that you have described can be caused by a dirty connection here.

As regards oil, use mineral oil only 10/30 or 10/40

Hope this helps
