Title: Angel eye headlights for RX7 third gen
Post by: Eddie on January 30, 2005, 10:10:49 PM
Hi

I took delivery of these lights last week from the USA and I have been getting them ready to put on my car.

First thing I did was remove the old headlights.
Second thing I did was to get the new lights colour coded to my car PZ black.

The light units consist of the following parts.
Two pods to secure to the car.
Two headlight unit to secure into the pods.
Two sets of wires to atacth into the original loom.

Pics of all items are below.

Title: Headlight wires
Post by: Eddie on January 30, 2005, 10:26:17 PM
The wires for the twin head lamps are a simple plug and play into the original connector. I dry fitted these ligths and they all powered up and worked. I did not attach the additional posistive to another power source yet, but the instructions stated the following
The additional positive wire has to be connected to another + supply this is to draw more current for the lights as a precaution, I presume the new lights draw more power than the original headlight units.

The angel eyes which are in all 4 circular hadlight are powered by the side light wiring, you can opt for disabling the original side light and just use the angel eyes or keep the original and the angel eyes togeather.
I simply ran a feed from the current side lights in to the black and red wires you can see in the reverse of the lights.

Hopefuly tomorrow, time and wife permitting:)  I will get around to securing these onto my car.
I will then do a follow up to show how this is done and I will show the headlights and angel eyes working.

First thing is that a little hammering is needed to get the pod to fit.
The bolow bracket needs to be moved over for the pod to sit correctly.

MIne ws little rusty as you can see in the pic, I will be getting that sorted son.

The thread which you can see in the center of the pic above the beige thing had a nut on it, remove the nut as this is going to be a securing point for the pod.

Post by: Eddie on January 31, 2005, 03:01:44 PM
I now put all the wires through the hole in the pod
I then inserted the pod and bolted in place, you can see the shiney new bolts.
I also replaced the nut I mentioned in the previous mail.

Tightened it all up

I then got the colour coded headlight unit and secured it to the pod using four bolts top and side, these allow a adjustment so the unit can be tweaked so it fits correctly.

Hi Lee,

Interested in the group buy but my car\'s a non-standard colour - not sure even what the colour is so it\'ll be tricky getting it colour coded by the supplier!!!

I think the best bet would be for me to not have it painted - what price diff would that make?

Can you tell me what size  (diameter) the lights are?  Reason im asking is I already have a C West headlight conversion, was thinking these would look great in mine!  Do you know if they would sell the light units seperately?  Or would it be easier to buy the ones the likes of Halfords supply?
Title: Angel eye group buy
Post by: Eddie on February 06, 2005, 11:58:19 AM
Hi all

Anyone up for the group buy on these needs to let me know by Wednesday noon at the latest, I have a had a fair few interested parties so you now need to say yes or no please.

I am going to be ordering them Monday afternoon and once there ordered I will not be doing another group buy on these.

The current price is now 240 deliverd to your door

As I mentioned in my previous mail I can get these colour coded for an extra 50 quid, all I will need is you colour code for the car, please make sure your car has not been re painted another colour:) as once they are painted and sent out then thats it, you may be best of seeing how much a body shop near you will charge to code them at least that way the body shop can have a good look and colour match a sample for you before colour coding.

Cheers

Hi Eddie

Please don\'t take this the wrong way but I need a couple of points cleared up before I part with my hard earned.

As I understand it you will be collecting a fair bit of money and sending it off to your supplier for payment and delivery.

Now, my contract would be with you so what happens if:

1/ The goods don\'t arrive.
2/ The goods are faulty.
3/ You run off to spain with all the money:D

I don\'t have a problem will you making a few quid out of this but if you\'re going to make some money imo you should take some of the risk or give some assurance that you can cover any  loss.
Or would it be a case of "sorry lads the suppliers done a bunk"

Regards

John
Title: Hi guys/ questions
Post by: Eddie on February 08, 2005, 04:13:36 PM
Good questions John and I dont take offense, you are correct to ask these questions.

I will be paying the supplier then collecting money from you guys.
I was going pay for the items via paypal up front (sharing the risk seeing as I will be paying for 4 sets:) I consider it a big risk, what if you dont send me a cheque? or pull out after saying yes I get stuck with a set of lights I dont want.
When I have paid for the items I will then request cheques from you guys, I bank the cheques whilst the goods are in transit, by the time the goods arrive your cheque should have cleared, I send them out direct to you.
Any problems then your money gets refunded and I take action with the seller via paypal so you dont actually bare any of the risk I do.

I am covered by Paypal protection:)

1) I fully insure items via shipment
2) The seller has a returns policy
3) Wish I had enough money to run of to Spain mate, but some how the wife and kids won\'t like that:)

Well hope that answers you question.

One last thing I am making enough money to cover my messing around sorting this out and sending items out, I was actually trying to offer a good deal to group members like I got so they can benifit its not a profit driven thing.
The only benifit I get is the seller giving me discount on other items he sells.

This is how the deal works out:

If 4 buy
Lights 300 dollar  161 quid
Shipment 67 dollars 36 quid
duty when they arrive 30 quid
ME shipping them back out 20 quid

Total 247 english pounds

This is for 4 pairs.

I currently have only 1 yes if you agree that is 2, not enough to get this price.

Lights will be 349 dollars if I only get 2 yes\'s.

But we shall see by Wednesday how many people want them.

As everyone knows these lights are avaliable in this country already for 299, if anyone has any doubts then please buy them from over here, it reeally is no hassle to me infact it will save me hassle:)

Regards

I hate to bring up an old topic, but it was brought to my attention. I am the person who sold the headlights and was wondering if more are interested. They have been a real hot item and would love to do a group discount for any members. The price on them on ebay uis 184.99pounds which includes shipping. Ill do 174.99 outside of ebay with payment being made via Paypal. I currently have 4 left in stock and hopefully will be getting more. I also have Black lexus style tails, jdm style front indciators and crystal side repeaters. You can email me if interested or have any questions.

I wish these had been around when I bought mine from Raceon in the US, would have saved me a few quid, are well. I saw these  on Ebay UK and canceled the group buy from the states, I could not get near that price.

All I can say is that I am well happy with them and for this price for a set of modern RX7 headlights you cant go wrong, I know some people like the pop up style but I think they are so old looking :)

Anyone fitteda  carbon pair yet?

Can you please take this offline, I have no problems with you guys doing group buys but some vendors have paid for the privilage of advertising on here, most of you know terms and conditions. Thanks

Hi Todd, no need to take it off and Im aware you probably knew nothing of MRC trading policies, but moderators do have to try and be fair to those that pay to advertise and support here. Hopefully you may also join and advertise here one day, I like to think that we are a pretty friendly bunch on MRC.
Good luck with your business.

When you take the original lights out is there somewhere for the headlight pod to sit?  I had a quick look and it looked like if i took the headlight out there would be nowhere to sit the pod on.

I have a C West nose so i don\'t know if this would make a difference.

Post by: Eddie on December 04, 2005, 08:03:36 PM
Hi Gman

I also have a cwest front, the original front bumper had a bolt from the bumper which connected to the wing, the pod has an hole which this bolt goes through to hold the pod in place, I put my cwest front bumper on my self and used a nut and bolt, worked a treat

Has anyone had an MOT with these lights yet? I fitted a set a couple of months back, but I\'m concerned about the fact that there is no \'real\' dip on the main beam.
Title: Mot
Post by: Eddie on December 05, 2005, 11:27:05 AM
I have but they would not pass for that reason, for some reason the mot station did not pay much attention apart from the fact I had lights which they liked and I showed them working and I explained they were imported on the car blah blah blah. I know its not ideal but I got a certificate.

Title: angel eye pop ups
Post by: Eddie on December 06, 2005, 10:11:44 PM
Hi Fletch

You may have to fabricate something yourself, I know knight do a twin head light kit which keeps the pop ups but from what I remember they are mega money, you could always just change the lamps  I have seen something done on an mx5 which looked good, I will try and find the link.

What happened with your part three Fletch, I had mine in September and just scrapped through with a 5,4 it must have been the hardest thing I have ever done, I had nigel in Cheetham hill, he said I would have got a 6 for the first part but I got him to move of without a signal and then asked him to apply it:( bummer.
I am still working for latics driver training but I now teach people in a 206 convertable:) the pupils like it and when summer comes it should get the punters in:)
