Title: Help Plz ! RX7 FD coughs and splutters @2k+
Post by: michal marzec on January 21, 2005, 04:34:18 PM
Help Please,

My Rx has been totally sweet up till now, but this morning it seems to have
no power above 2000rpm. When I accelerate it just seems to stumble and i can
hear a gentle backfire(like too much fuel)

I usually drive it while it is still cold, BUT with extreme caution untill
it warms up.

i read somewhere a while back that there is a reliability mod which you
diasable some valve "That prevents boost while engine is cold". I havent
done this one, and I am hoping that this is my problem.....(please!please!)
Also I\'m possibly thinking that when it goes into \'Open Loop Mode\' ie on boost, that its then that the problem starts?.....

Anyway can anyone plz help, or does anyone know what that valve is called so
that I can do some reasearch and check it., or what can i do to prove it is something...?
Many thanks in advance, Michal...

boosting when cold is not a problem other than it causes excess wear on all the components as oil may well not be lubricating well so it is unlikely that would cause a prob.the list is endless as to what the prob may be
1/check all earths
2/plugs
3/fuel pump or filter
with something like this it would be easier to get it to a specialist to sort quickly..re worx at pertsmouth or carl hayward at reading spring to mind

cause that is air escaping & not going to/thru your intercooler(http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/blackeye/Eyecrazy.gif) i think the hole originally feeds the air to the induction but since you dont have that you wana block it & let that air go to good use just whack some duct tape over it easy money....

Cheers Si, I had a look last night and thought that would be the reason.
