Title: Injectors
Post by: rx jamie on January 20, 2005, 09:52:55 PM
Please could you offer me some advice? i\'m blue in the face trying to find some decent advice about what injectors to run on my fd3. im ugrading to a single turbo conversion, using a t04 turbo, uprated intercooler etc. im using a 255 litre per hour fuel pump. which injectors should i use for my secondary. im using standard secondary 800\'s as my primary injectors. ive been told to use 1700\'s but i dont want over 500 bhp really so is this over kill? i was thinking maybe 1300\'s would be best.

any opinions or advice would be much appreciated.

i have 550 pr and 1600sec with a to4e. i would say that your set up would be ok.

1) \'T04\' means very little...
2) standard secondaries are 850s, not 800
3) the choice is yours :) 4 x 850 probably fine. 12/1300 are bored out 850s, not keen my self. 15/16/1700s will use a custom secondary rail so you can use the top feeders

If you arent after a lot of power then 850s are cheap.

Hi Jamie and welcome to MRC.

Fueling will depend on the size of TO4 that you have as there are many many configurations that are avaliable.

If you have a \'\'small\'\' TO4 (like the old HKS unit) and very little or no porting you will only need to fit larger secondarys, or you may as Rich suggests get away with 4 secondarys.

The other extream is that you can make the TO4 HUGE by swapping wheels and housings, and then with porting you would need 1600\'s and your secondary\'s in your primary\'s, but you will get BIG power!.

Hope this helps.

Clives post is a little confusing. I think he means fitting secondary injectors as primarys.

After that you I think like those above have said, you need to look at 1600\'s.

Also remember that with your big pump you could also fit a fuel pressure regulator. This will help.

I\'m running 550\'s (pri) and 1600\'s (sec), but I\'m buying 850\'s fitted into the primary rail. Now I\'m wondering whether this is such a good idea. I\'ve been tuning by wideband. At idle the 550\'s need 2.6msecs, at 4krpm on the overrun they need 2.0msecs. The fuel pressure is 40psi.

If I change to 850\'s that becomes 1.7 and 1.3ms. Can the injectors open and close that fast?

Sorry for the thread hijack,

Adrian

Just a quick question.  I have the same set up and I have just ordered some 1600cc secondary injectors.

When I fit them and change the injector size on the power FC will the fc then reduce the injector duty times automatically ?

The reason I ask is thea once I have fitted them I have got too drive the car 250 miles too get it set up and dont want too pump alot off fuel in too the rotors!!

Thanks crispyj

You will need an FC Datalogit to change to the 1600\'s. The PFC commander will not allow such a big figure.

the pfc will only let you increase upto 1500cc but it will be fine on the base map to get you the 250 miles to where your mapping it. i drove around for 1200miles on the base map with 550pri and 1600sec\'s like this.
