Hi Guys
Just to mention, i am having an adapter plate made up basically the same as the Feed ones (picture included). I am having it made in billet ally so no problems there. If anyone wants one made at the same time, just let me know.
Thanks
If you don\'t mind me asking how much are you doing them for?
Also how do you sort out the problem with the Stud holes? is this still a die grinder job?
Chris
Hi Chris
The stud holes will just be enlarged so they line up with the FC Lower intake manifold.
Price is yet to be confirmed, but a rough price of £85 has been mentioned, which is a damn slight cheaper than the Feed ones, altough it does not contain the studs or wiring connector for FD throttle etc. But can as i am sure you know just as easliy be spliced in to the original loom.
And are they on the market yet? Very serious Q
Hi mate, i am not marketing them, just offering to have one made up when i get round to having mine made, as they will have the cnc machine all set up to do it.
When arew you thinking of doing it? Do you have to make a Batch?
Chris
Probably in the next couple of weeks. I dont have to get a batch but whilst i am having one done, i might as well get 2 or 3 or whatever whilst they are in the process.
sort me out one if you can. let me know a price and I can get the money over to Tim\'s no problem, and i know your in the area.
Cheers
Cjr
why dont you get a S5 LIM and port it to match the S6 UIM? :wave
Becouse that involves welding and it would look better and be done quicker with a custom made adapter.
I should know i have done the port matching and it was alot of messing about.
we had did this b4 and no welding was needed just ported to LIM to the gasket off the S6 UIM and we had to open the holes alittle bit.. keeping it stock looking is always the better way the go but good luck 11% increase is still 11% of good power:wave
You open\'d the Lower to the Uper?
The Stock s5 lower has masive Primary runners compaired to the stock Fd uper, when i put the FD Gasket over the S5 lower there was about 1/4" step where the runners are bigger. I grant you the Secondarys are not too far off.
I use the S5 Gasket and exactly matched the both runners. and you are not left with much metal in the cut out between the Primary runners on the Fd Upper.
Chris
trust what im saying on this .. you have to use the S6 gasket to get your matches rite.. you want to port out the S5 LIM to the S6 UIM by useing the gasket of the S6.. iv been looking around and i hevent came accross the wright up on this but I know this works its been done already :wave
How do you explaine the S5 Primary runers being bigger than the S6?
I have put an S6 Gasket over a S5 lower today, they is a masive diffrence on the Primarys, unless youare placing the S6 gasket over the Lower and opening it out so there is no metal overlaping the gasket it can not be matched as the Primarys are Bigger.
This is what i\'m saying to get the Runners on the Lower and Uper exactly the same requires the use of a S5 gasket. Ok the Fd one may work but if you look at the size diffrence it will make you think.
On the Pic note the size of the Primary runners to the S6 upper and tell me that the lower can be reshaped to the same size without a step or welding?
hey the pic you posted looks like the one MikeL used in his wright up for this conversion heres the link to the page here (http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7789&perpage=25&pagenumber=1)
Your right it is.
I got most of my Info on this sort of thing from Alf Jhonson (Soul Assasin) if you remember him.
He did use adapt a S5 lower but you want to ask him how much work went into it.
I still belive that a S5 lower with a S6 upper canot be port matched to a S6 gasket.
If you return to Mike L\'s thread have a look how Blue T2 did his. If i remember correctly Mike L bought Alf\'s Lower and uper when he parted his car.
Chris
in the second pic there isnt a plate between the manifold .. Soul Assassin\'s engine is sooo nice.. im going to have to look at his video clips again- that FC is very nice:yes :god :yes
O yeh, Running 520rwhp on a half bridge T2. Only in Japan!!!!!!
He must have been gutted when his Tour was up.
Chris
yes the red t2 was parted out but hes back and building another beast already..
Yeh, Last i heard he sold up and was buying a Big 4X4. Guess he got board.
Is he building a T2 or an FD? I wounder if hes getting backed again? maybe getting back in with Joule or HPI?
Sounds good, somthing to look forward to!:D
Anyway i\'m having a Knightmare myself at the moment, I\'ve just put my new engine in and got rid of the Emition crap. I had the bright idea of getting it running on the Stock EMS before fitting the New one. But for the life of me i can\'t get the thing to run, Its started to bug me so i\'ve come in for some food and a chill out.
Chris
For those of you who are have not come across Alf\'s car
http://velocity.isfaster.com/new/rides/soul/main.htm
Unfortunatly this car was broken up a year or so ago when Alf returned from his Tour in the US Air force in Japan.
Chris
Am i reading the thread right, 520rwhp with the set up mentioned in the link.!!!
Thats awesome. Do you know how much psi he was pushing through.
Don\'t hold me to this but i belive it was around 26-28psi.
Alf\'s car was built by a place called Joule in Japan as a show car, towards the end it had a T51kia fitted and some other goodies but i don\'t think he ever got it running to its full capabilities.
Belive me when i say this if Alf builds another Rx7 it will be Stupidly powerfull!! he has alot of contacts in Japan.
Chris
Whats the benefit having the FD intake adapter fittin to FC??
know it sounds bit stupid....:rollin
From my limited knowledge on the subject, i dont think there is a lot of difference in performance, except the FD has smaller (i think) primary runners and you also get to run the FD throttle body which is better. I am not sure the gains will be massive but just a gnereal help for want of a better explanation. I am sure someone can go into more detail.
Well the FD uper has no plenum (Spelling) that hellps reduce the effects of say a half bridge on idle, it has equal lenth runners,The throttles are 1x45 and 2x50 not 1x50 and 2x45, it looks better when your running a FMIC or v-mount as well.
The size of the primarys have not got alot to do with it becouse if you examine the Uper carfully you will see the primary runners get smaller as it meets the lower manifold. But saying that the secondrys dont.
Chris
just received the FD upper inlet...any quick tips??

i did back to back testing of the turbo ii UIM to the FD UIM, same rolling road, same day, same tune and there was virtually nothing in it. Look on RX7club.com and you can see the dyno sheets. Search under by threads started by me. (Antnicuk)
Arg, I can\'t find it, there is a video of an FC running a GT45 on the OEM UIM and making about 800bhp lol
Here it is:

Although it might be a 13B-RE?
That FC is crazy! Love to see that at Santa Pod lol
Well mine won\'t exactly be slow lol should be running mid 13s on standard turbo, and then much quicker when I get the T88 fitted lol ^_^
I have an adaptor plate, not sure if I am going to use it or not, need to check the compatability of FC and FD TBs to find out whats best :)

So not really worth doing then - other than having the UIM inlet at a different angle :) (not looked at the US thead but will do)
If you want to squeeze every single ounce of HP out of your set then go for it, I had a street port and a GT35/40 turbo. I was also using an Apexi Power FC, which was for an FD, so using the FD TPS was easier.
