Title: Buying Advice
Post by: dan_potato on January 20, 2005, 07:00:04 PM
Hi, i\'m a new member but me and the brother are going looking at a \'94 rx-7 on saturday and was just looking for information on what to look out for eg. weak areas in body work and engine.

Also what prices are engine rebuilds and just regular running costs?

Cheers
Dan

not that i\'m aware of although you can tell the year from the initial numbers, there is a link for the yank cars/numbers as i recall but not relevant to Jap cars? Should be able to tell roughly from the parts etc but to be honest there aint much between the majority of models (not all obviously er relatively obviously ;)) especially once modified it\'s all about condition & mods done etc i guess mainly IMO
Si (adds get out causes so as to protect the innocent ie me.....lol(http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/lachen/laughing-smiley-008.gif))
PS good luck n all that
PPS not sure if there\'s any owners locally who might offer their assistance otherwise feel free to ask away, do you have any details of the car (not chassis nos etc on here at least not all of them)

Welcome Dan,

Most importantly ask the mileage as anything near 60K and the rebuild wont be too far off??? if the car has already had a rebuild ask for a receipt and exactly where it was rebuilt.

cheers for the advice.
Its off a lad who imports them from england to ireland but it originally started in japan. I think she\'s hitting round 40k so engine should be grand!

although as i say depends on condition some engines can go at 40k too, dont wana scare you as they can also go nicely over 60k+ but be aware 60k is just the figure everyone quotes for impending rebuild it\'s not a guarantee......
Does sound promising thou so dont let me sceptisism put you off just trying to cover all bases still...... lol
