Title: Intake Pipe Split
Post by: rmagictastic on January 19, 2005, 12:51:25 PM
Good afternoon all,
In the pic below the pipe indicated has a big gouge out of it, it has been rubbing against the flywheel i think,
could any of you kind people tell me what this pipe is and if it is important to replace imediately, will it have an effect.

(for info: the pipe joins to a hard pipe on the side of the plenum which goes round the back.

Regards

Nick

I have that same pipe broken too, except mine has snapped off at the airbox.  Seeing as it goes straight to atmosphere via your air filter anyway, I dont think you should panic.

By the way, you can hear your dump valves because of that cone filter you have.

I think that is the reurn flow pipe  it just ( as name suggests) returns unused air from intake back in ot the air filter and back into the engine...

but hey I am no expert... if the car makes a kind of roaring sound when you step on the gas and release like a brk almosty then it is the return pipe

( probably got the wrong pipe could do with a confirmation on this)

It\'s got something to do with the air pump. Mine was blocked off and my air pump disconnected so I re-connected the air pump and found that this pipe was venting on the over-run, as the air pump clutch switched it on and off.

Wrap some insulating tape round it and you should be okay.  It is something to do with the air pump return..
