...........the chassis number on a FD3S?
When exactly were the RB edition cars started in 95?
Thanks in advance people.
found this which may help, but it is off a US site:
A typical RX-7 VIN looks like: JM1FD3311P0200001
In order, the fields are as follows:
"JM1" "World Manufacturer Identifier" for Mazda
"FD" RX-7 series
"33" body style ("33" = coupe)
"1" "Misc ID field" (1993: "1" = US, "2" = Canada.)
(1994: "3" = manual seat belts, 2 airbags)
(1995: "3" = manual seat belts, 2 airbags)
"1" "Check Digit" (used to verify that a VIN is not bogus)
(calculated for each car)
"P" year model code (1993 = "P")
(1994 = "R")
(1995 = "S")
(Q was not used)
"0" assembly plant code ("0" = Hiroshima)
"200001" serial number (1993: started with 200001)
(1994: started with 300001)
(1995: started with 400001)
Isn\'t that just the US car chassis/VIN numbers? Mine follows completely different pattern as do all the others I\'ve seen in the UK...
e.g. FD3S107xxxx
they must have a similar system for the JDM cars, just trying to find it that\'s the pig!
Sorry, should have said its for a JDM car
Ok, i understand the Rz\'s started 93/10, in a limited number so therefore 95 RZ is likeley to be a early 95 as they were coming to the end of the run.... no?
Only roughly:
92-96 FD3s 100000 - 300000
96-98 FD3s 400000
99-00 FD3s 500000
01-02 FD3s 600000
I asked this on one of the Americal sites last year, and was told, that apart from the initial number (1-6 depicting the revision), the rest is dependant on several things, colour, production line etc, such that one that left the production line first may have a higher number than one that left later. In other words, the numbers aren\'t sequential and are not specifically related to date.
That might be wrong, I\'m only repeating what I was told!!
