Just bought a full stainless single exit system off e-bay, this is from the turbo back, it comes with a sports cat but I\'m still worried it\'s gonna be too loud!! does anyone have something similar on their turbo 2? it\'s a 3" system.
Also I have no reverse or rear fog light, do they share the same fuse? is there a diagram on here of the drivers footwell fuse box? the covers missing from mine.
Cheers.
i saw that exhaust - how much did you get it for in the end !
and its a single sided exit aswell - very sexy
I got it for £255 in the end, including postage. Bit gutted though as it was £165 with 3 minutes to go!! that\'s e-bay. Still better than £880 from Rotechnics!!
Is single sided better then? I\'m thinking of filling in the left hand arch and having the bumper sprayed (it\'s a bit cracked anyway).
Any idea on the fuses?
Rob.
ekk that price jumped up a bit
and the fuses - have a look on iluvmyrx7.com for the manuals - you may find it in there
If they have a Cat or a center box they usaly arnt mad loud.
I have a 3" into 2x21/2" pipes with two very small expantion boxes. That is my defination of loud! Can here it over a mile away at WOT and over one hundred yards at idle. Thats Loud. Every one that has heard mine says its Unpleasently loud but at least i know if somone is tring to steal it!!!
All i can say is MAKE SURE IT HAS A CENTER BOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris
All,
Unpacked the exhaust yesterday and I noticed that the section that joins the turbo/manifold has a hole with a thread in it. I don\'t know much about these cars! does anyone know what goes in this? also will I need any special tools to fit the exhaust myself?
Cheers :)
i think thats for the lamba sensor :)
just put your old one in ( although might be a good idea to put a new one in - the are only supposed to last about 60k )
And doing it yourself - i have no idea - but i have to swap the cat for a straight thru at the turbo end - and its supposed to be a right pain in the rear to do - as there is no room around the cat to work - although putting the decat back on is easy - as there is loads of room
if i was you - get under the car and spray it all with penetrating oil now - and then leave it till weekend before playing :)
let me know how you get on :)
Stu
did the exhaust on the LHD Gen 1 a while back, takes patience and brute force! Removing the CAT is the pain as Grinder says (our Gen 1 had a CAT as it was a US car) as you can\'t get round the thing and some of the bolts are almost impossible to get to as the CAT is in the way. We just used an angle grinder and cut the CAT in half in the end!

i keep thinking that to be honest , cut it off , as you are putting a new one back on anyways !
not as easy as it sounds though, the metal that surrounds the CAT is REALLY thick, we used 4 grinding wheels just to cut down the weld seam of the CAT so we could get to the bolts behind! Still it only took 1.5hrs!
hummmm so its gonna be a fun job changing the cat on the turbo end ??
i think sean said that you can get to them with about 4 extensions on the ratchet and a few U/J\'s
i think that will be a summer project :)
hmmm, doesn\'t sound as easy as I\'d hoped!! I was hoping to undo it from the turbo and let the whole thing drop, the exhaust is very rotten so I\'m hoping I can saw through any tricky bits?
Thanks for the advice, I\'ll let you know how it goes tomorrow afternoon, night, Sunday morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
