Title: intercooler plumbing path
Post by: travellinbob on January 15, 2005, 09:08:51 PM
Hi fd people. Just wondering about something? Now I dont know bug all about the fd before you react to this so please bear in mind. Anyway, have been looking into alternative ways to direct intercooling plumbing and was wondering why fd owners always run their plumbing under the bonnet? Now on an old skool machine there is space to run the pipes down through the inner wing(guard). I suppose on the fd\'s there might be less room as it is a sports car and they do stuff more into less space.
By the way I have never even been any closer than say 20 meters away from an fd. Thats how little I know about them.

   cheers, michael.

Some kits do route the piping out thru the guards and back in...

Main reason I would guess that most kits are \'internal\' is due to all the **** that can get in to the bay with holes chopped in the wings guards; may be less of a deal in Aus? Also a lot of peeps in the UK seem very concerned with pipe bends and run lengths on the basis of lag increase...
