Yes people, I have crashed her on Saturday night on A406....lol:(
I don\'t know how to tell you guys all this?? My worst nightmare, never ever thought that it will be me. The car\'s front end is gone but there is no damage to engine nor the plant.
I was on my way to drop off my mate after a night out at a local pool place. I was on the A406, cruising in the middle lane at round 50 to 60mph. The roads were really wet so i know my rex and the speed i should be in the wet. As i was driving down the hill and there was a right hand bend in the road, my mate noticed a very slow moving Hyundai in the fast lane (must be doing round 30mph) and told me to slow down before under taking but at the same time i noticed a car in my wing mirror comming down the hill with his lights flashing and on full beam, may be going over 100mph, so i steady myself and downshift into 4th. The next thing was that the car (SAAB i think?) was right up my arse, as he went into the right hand lane to overtake me, that slow Hyundai was infront of him and he slammed his brakes hard. It was not enough as he nearlly went into that car so he had no choice but to come back into my lane and at that point i was on the move to my left hand lane and he clipped my driver side back end.
That was enough for me lose the back end and the car went to its left then right and then left again. At this point my initial reaction was to slow the car down but in midd panic my foot was on the floor instead off on the brakes and the car went straight into the crash barrier. The front end is tottaly F*****d, so is the side skirts and as the front wheel hit the curb first its also broken. The SAAB did not stop and kept driving on.
Im not worried about the car as it does break my heart to see what has happened to her but upmost important thing is that me and my mate are ok and walk away with few cuts.
The police officers were true wan****s.
I know who ever is reading this may also be thinking that i must be speeding but then again i don\'t blame you for thinking that. People who knows their Rex\'s will know how easy it is to loose your backend in the wet but if you had a knock at the same time at round 50mph, it is not that easy to control.
I am not going to give up that easy and will be back in month or two. That was my pride and joy and to see her in this state is hurting me even more. :( :(
I know how much Laaq loved that car, he\'s spent so much money on it over the last few months getting the look and performance he wanted. Just when he had put on his new front bumper this happens. The car was looking awesome as well - see his latest pics. Laaqs well into his RXs - always at Ace for the meetings. Good to hear he will be back soon.
Real sorry to hear about your car :(
Where do you stand with regards to insurance. You were hit by a car that did not stop (that is a criminal offence). You crashed due to him hitting you! You should not have to claim against your own insurance?
As you said, main thing is you both live to see another day and drive again, no injuries :)
The A406 has so many cameras on it, the police should be able to pull the tapes and back you up some what.
Hope you get it sorted out and happy that your ok.

Really sorry to hear that..
As far as the insurance goes, sorry to say, but it looks you\'ll have to claim against your own.
Back in 2002, my 206 was written off by an idiot while it was PARKED. That\'s right, PARKED.
I was a metre away from my car about to get in. Didnt see it happening with my own eyes as I had my head down looking for my keys. Heard the crash, hundreds of little bits n pieces splashed on me. Look up, saw my car. Lost all my words.
My car was 3/4 of the original size, front passanger side wheel was on the pavement, the car parked in front of mine was in a similar state, the one in front of that also had one wheel ended up on the pavement, the one in front of that was also a written off, the one in front of that, and another one.......
He managed to write off 6 cars, excluesive of his own. And guess what, he was NOT insured.
I called the police and everything. I later found out that he was charged with driving without due care, and driving without insurance. And he was off!!!!
Of course the insurance company never found him, and I had to claim it againt myself ........
Sorry to hijack your thread. Does anyone know that how many years does a claim affect you??
Did I mention it all happened on a 30 miles limited street in a city centre !!!

Laeeq : real sorry to hear that, damn hit and run scum.
J.j. : I wonder if the police force should have been held responsible? But they were probably working within what they are allowed to do in regards to holding people. So it comes back to our lack luster \'justice\' system.
I\'ve managed to make myself mad! Grrr.
Im not gonna go through insurance as i will loose out big time. If there was a third party involved and cought (SAAB) in this case then i could\'ve had the case to fight for. I am waiting for the traffic cops to get back to me with any CCTV images and if they have anything for me to prove that it was not entirely my fault. As i stand the police is blamming me for everything as well as the bill for crash barrier..lol...
I am more worried about my friend, not long ago he was stabbed and beaton up badlly with injuries to his face. He had plates put in his jaw to keep it in line and now after hitting his face against the dash he is in more pain but luckilly its not serious.
My car will be back on the road. I was thinking of breaking her for parts but i don\'t think that will help much. The engine and the turbo as well as IC and drive line are all in one piece.
Very sorry to hear of this,
Funny isn\'t it, you go through a camera at 36mph in a 30 zone and the cops are all over you for points and fines, someone hits and runs your car and you could have been seriously injured and they are more bothered about the crash barrier:reallymad
I thought human life was more important than fines and crash barriers????
Rant over
Gurj:wave
Mate, you\'ve got to fight this. Blaming you is an easy cop out for them and you\'re an easy target - young and in a fast car.
Talk to your insurance - that\'s why you pay it and you should also have legal cover on there.
Don\'t accept blame when it\'s not yours.
Iain
NO WAY! Leeaq! I saw the post and thought "not another one", and then saw your name and couldn\'t believe it! I\'m guted for you. You\'ll probably find out the Saab was an undercover cop car just to rub salt in the wounds. Glad to hear you and your mate walked away. My misses was parked on the verge A331, broken down with hazzards on and everything when a car hit her at +60. Luckily she had got out and sat in the passenger\'s side, there wasn\'t anything left of the drivers side and the guy wasn\'t insured... the solicitors won\'t return her calls now as they don\'t believe they can recoup at least %50 of tehir expenses. Remind me why we have a justice system??!! If there\'s anything I can do to help you fix it Laeeq, let me know
Sorry to hear that bud, lost my FD a week ago :(
With regards to the other driver being not insured..... if you had legal cover this makes no difference - your ins co will claim the money back through the government - the Motor Insurance Bureau. It was set up to cover innocent drivers who are victims of accidents from uninsured muppets! I know - I got hit then claimed - all i lost was £300 which the mib charge for their services. Takes ages - bout 2 years but your ins co put it as non fault straight away and you lose out on nothing.
Speak to your legal cover people - normally a special dept in your ins co, they\'ll be able to tell you exactly what you should do - they are the most helpful people in the world in this instance. I wrote mines off, my own fault I may add and my ins co couldn\'t be more helpful!
6 days they took to write it off - not bad as it normally takes a few weeks from my pals stories!
BTW don\'t be afraid to put a complaint about the way the cops are handlling the case..... I done it before over some trivial car matters and when the wee man comes out to see what the complaint is about (complaints against the police are apparently a very serious matter) they are normally again - very very helpful! Does absolutely everything so that you don\'t take the complaint further!
Anyways - enough of my dribbling on but glad to hear your both ok. Hope to see you back in another fd soon! Though at the rate they\'re vanishing I think we\'re gonna need another shipment of fd\'s from Japan soon!!!!!:rollin :rollin :rollin
gutted for you bud and know exactly what you mean about how difficult it is to regain the back end once it\'s gone. Lost mine a couple of days before Xmas.
It is a criminal offence not to stop at the scene of an accident so yer Saab driver is in trouble. If you can verify the colour or any model details of the car that may be enough to allow them to pick out the car at another point in the road. Even if they do not have the accident on camera I would think that your allegation and description should be enough to trace the owner and check his car over for damage to the frond end where you say he hit you. You have to at least give this a shot. Any chance they could find the driver of the Hyundai? He could probably corroberate at least some of your story.
Insurance usually has legal cover, and if you\'re with the AA they also offer it if you call them. Remember that it is in your insurance company\'s own interest to find this guy so they do not end up out of pocket.
As I said, reall gutted for you but as always glad no-one was hurt. For the number of accidents recently these cars really should be recognised for protecting the occupants when the **** hits the fan.
really sorry for you matey !
i had my rover smashed up a few yrs back and the guy drove off - took 18 months of fighting and at the end of the day i lost 2 yrs no claims and 250 excess as i had to claim from myself
the motor insurance people will only pay for injury if you are insured full comp - or this is what i was told
still a pain when its not your fault and you end up getting shafted :(
Forget the police for now...
Explain your situation to the insurance company and demand an assessor competent to verify that the damage is consistent with your version of events. In fact, get an independent assessor to look at it too, and give that report to the police.
If another car hit you and you were in the correct lane, then HE is liable. The insurance company will be able to claim from elsewhere if they cannot recover from the Saab driver, and that\'s not your problem anyway. If it\'s NOT YOUR FAULT then don\'t let the buggers get away with it because they are too lazy to deal with complicated claims. Now we all pay four figures for insurance you should make the bleeders work for the money!
What about the Hyundai driver?
Hi Laeeq,
I am still on my cruise I cannot believe this has happened after all the work we have done on the car, I am gutted for you, I was going to tell you how hot it is and all the tequilla i\'m drinking.
:bandit
pm me and i will get back to u must go now
A mate of mine had to take drastic evasive action a couple of months back when a car cut him up really badly on dual carriageway (cautting across lanes to make an exit). Unfortunately my mate\'s evasive action mant that he rear ended another car. The driver that caused it didn\'t stop but two other witnesses to what occurred did. The other driver has now been caught through a description of the car and partial reg number. Although there\'s not a mark on his car he has admitted causing the accident and the insurance companies and old bill are noy pursuing his insurance company.
Did anyone else stop for you Laeeq?
Thanks guys for all your advice and concerns. Right now, im sitting back and counting on my losses and working out how im gonna fix her and also waiting from the police.
I think i forgot to tell you all that the main driver with fully com insurance was my older brother and i am a named driver on the insurance which only covers me for third party. (not sure if it true but have been told by a friend who is solicitor) As i was the driver of the car (time of the accident) it is very unlikely that the insurance will pay out. This is the reason im not going through insurance. There was no one injured nor i hit so they cant claim against me so im gonna cut down my losses and repair her myself and then insured fully on my name....lol.... cutting corners to get cheaper insurance has penalised me in big time... never ever gonna do this again.
Laeeq - your type of insurance is not the issue here though - the police should do all they can (within reason) to find the driver who caused the accident.
As you were covered 3rd party though, your insurance company isn\'t going ot be much help. You need to get the Police to take this seriously.
Iain
I have been the named driver on many ppls insurance and in my experience this has meant that i am fully covered aswell. The only difference is that i did not acquire the NCB for the car.
Your brother/you should be able to make a claim.
Stu
as a named driver you should be fully comp. My wife was a named driver on the Scooby and we claimed after the accident. Speak to the insurer and tell them what happened, they should then go after the other driver (probably with the police\'s assistance as you can bet the police will take a request from an insurance company to investigate more seriously:rolleyes: )
Just got the camera a took these pics today. It looks worse then what it was but still the ipmact was so hard that it has knocked the passinger side back about 2inches. We are very lucky to be alive and thank God i didnt hit anyone else.
:( :(
My new car is already here. Its tottaly standard but all my old uprated parts will get transfered over ASAP so i can be back on the road soon.
pics here:)
Nice to see your already back in another FD :)
its gonna take few days before everything gets removed and replaced but i don\'t care how long it takes, i just want my monster back.
Oh, can i have a copy of a calander as well mate?
Cheers
Just got back from Japan and saw your post... What can I say but at least you and your mate are okay. I know how much time and effort you\'ve put into your FD and it\'s really sad when something like this happens. At least you\'ve landed on your feet and your already swapping the bits to a new FD. Look forward to seeing your new monster!!
how did you manage to pick up another FD so quick ?
Got me contacts..;) ;) from Birmingham. He has about 5 to be out as quick as possible all with blown up engines. Mostly red but 2 black cars. One was with running engine special edition one, very nice and second black was this one with blown engine.
Got it delevered this mornning and had a quick look (as i was getting late for work) under the hood in day light. The rad is brand new as well as ABS system and other bits.
As you can see the front end of my was badly damaged so needed a new rad and front pannels.
Cheers
