Hi guy’s I need a bit of help, I have a slight misfire on my FD. I have fitted new plugs and Feed racing plug leads but it’s still the same and now that I have a Nur Spec exhaust on it you can hear the miss even more!
The car drives OK and the engine pulls well and you can’t feel any missing but when it’s on idle you can hear it and even get the odd pop from the exhaust. Any ideas what to check next?
Cheers
Sounds like she\'s just running a bit rich?
Max
So on an FD i guess thats good yeah? just thought that once you fitted an induction kit and exhaust it would run a little leaner
Any other ideas what it could be? i have just fitted a new set of plugs but at the time i could only get NGK BUR9EQP, should i try to get hold on a couple of BUR7EQP and change them for 2 of the 9\'s?
When it\'s on idle at start up it just pops and bangs but once warm it pops and bangs and sounds like it\'s misfiring and running a little rough. I know the best thing to do would be take it o an RX specialist but theres none of them within miles 170 of me :(
If it is just running a little rich will this cause any problems?
Thanks Guys :D
ur plugs are fine m8 check all ur connections tho i think it running a lol rich can do damage but i aint shure not as bad as running lean mabe somehting up with your inginition system but i dont think so
They do pop and bang, it\'s a case of is it normal popping and banging.
How about making a recording of it? Then the rest of us can offer our advice?
When did you put your exhaust on? have you bin around and checked that all the bolts on your new system are still tight? If there loose they can cause little bits of air to be sucked in through the gaskets causeing poping.
either way with a bigger diamiter piping on a exhaust you willl get a bit of poping as standard
:) :)
I have the same problem with mine. I\'m running a blitz nurspec exhaust. It wasn\'t doing it until I had the engine rebuilt, so I took it back and they could find nothing wrong. Opinion was that it was just a combination of a large bore exhaust, combined with a new engine and that it was not going to cause any problems, ( apart from waking my neighbours when I leave for work at 4:30am). I managed to reduce it a bit by adjusting the choke setting, but can\'t turn it down any lower.
Pete.
Setting the fuelling up right does cure your problem Pete, so long as it is not a stock ecu!
