Post by: OrecaViper on December 31, 2004, 07:24:37 PM
This sounds ( and probably is ) really stupid but where is the ecu located in the 3rd gen ( 92 ) and which is the earth wire you tap into to add another earth?

I have done a fair bit of work on my new beast but have checked the user manual online and cant find any mention of the whereabouts of the ecu!?!

Thanx for you future feedback, and please dont hurt me!!!

Why do you want to tap into an earth wire to make another earth? If it\'s to create an earth for something you\'re installing then you\'re better off crimping a screw terminal connector on the end of the wire you need to earth and then finding a suitable earthing point Basically any screw that\'s screwed into metal parts of the car - you\'ll find loads behind the dash and also you\'ll find an earthing point behind the stereo and points under the bonnet, and behind panels in the boot.

I have been advised that when you add the earthing kit to improve the existing ( but not very good earthing of the car ) you should re-earth the ECU by tapping into the earth and improving it cos that is the most common cause of the 3800 rpm misfire, when the ecu asks the 2nd injector to start working!
Many thanx for your help guys, I shall quest to find the ecu over the next couple of days!
