Title: which coils for a microtech?
Post by: kev-yorks on December 29, 2004, 07:38:47 PM
Hi all i\'ve got a second hand (unused) microtech mt12 in the post from Aus, just need six coils now. Does anyone know the part number for the bosch coils that are used or any other equivilent brands part number. I know someone who can get them cheap but he needs part numbers.

Thanks Kevin

Er, the MT-series like the LT-series dont have the built in ignitors do they? i.e. you need to use the stock coils etc?

The MTX and LTX\'s are the ones with the ignitors on-board - so you can use any old (ignitor-less!) coil with them...

FYI, MT recommend the Bosch HEC715 - but again, check which ecu u r getting

Hi its a Mt12 that i\'ve got on the way, i didn\'t think you could use the stock ignition system with aftermarket ecu\'s something to do with how it is switched. At least i thought i\'d read that someware but i\'ve probably got that wrong. I\'ve sent a email to microtech asking the question but from past experience manufacturers aren\'t very good at responding to emails.

I think the \'non-X\' ecu\'s all use the stock ignition system and thus fire wasted spark still like Mazda intended.

The \'X-ed\' ecus have the igntors onbaord and thus u can run individual coils if u wish...
