Doh,
still working like a dog to get the turbos blowin the right amount of air.....
almost there - methinks!
Now a new problem presents itself - isn\'t that why we just love these cars, eh?
Went to the pics last nite and then on the way home.....
.... my car decided to start revving to 3K all the time it was in neutral... doesn\'t seem to do it all the time if i just drop the clutch but it does it all the time i stop and leave it in neutral. regardless of the engine temp!!!
If it had just done it till the engine was warm then i\'d have thought that the aws was working. only thing is - my car has never done this in the time i\'ve had it!
Any suggestions?
On a plus note - I have managed to get the boost under control again - almost! For some reason it was spiking away past 1 bar - so much so i couldn\'t floor it! Last thing to check was the 2 hoses with restrictor pills in them. Replaced the pre control one (again) and it seems toi have worked - i\'m assuming that the pill must have twisted slightly thus increasing the boost needed to open the pre control door. Now my boost pattern is sitting around 11/5/12? Gonna try changing the wastgate one too to see if that drops the boost on the secondary down a bit too. bit better than previous pattern of 15/8/???? (don\'t know what the secondary boost was as I was too scared to floor it!) eh? at least it\'s not at engine popping patterns now.
again any suggestions would be welcome?
Sticky butterfly valve?
Is your idle control connected ok?
How do I check these mate? I\'m getting good at this rotary malarkey but still not quite there. On a good note the turbos i\'m fairly certain i\'ve sorted.... getting 11.3/7/11.3 - just a little out. I\'m assuming that the boost is a little high due to the cat back exhaust? Also it is a little cold just now so that would raise the boost slightly too?
I even tried it last nite - floored it and it didn\'t rise above 0.8kg(11.3psi) at any point on my WOT test! yipee. Was actually scary to see what the car can really do!!!!!
So close now and I get this damn stupid problem with the fast idling!
Make sure the throttle linkage returns to the position it does on idle, if not then the butterfly valve is sticking or the spring that returns it has slipped off or broken.
The idler control is at the other side of the plenum from the throttle linkage, it a black cylinder bolted to the plenum, i dont know if this the problem but you couild always check it...
If you can wait till later i can swing into livingston on my way back from work...?
You intending to drive tomorrow or are you needing a lift?
That\'ll be great, got the escort at work just now. hehe!
Directions.....
M8 to junction 4......
come off then at the roundabout go right (under the bridge)
200/300 yards at the lights turn left towards Blackburn....
When you pass the Jet garage give us a phone.
I\'ll be home by around twenty past five, earlier if i need to.
cheers man.
Tomorrow - I\'m taking the rex, if the only thing to worry about is the high idle then I\'m sure it\'ll survive.
I dont know what time im finishing yet, hoping for an early finish but if i am i will drive out from Edinburgh (any excuse for a drive:D )
Call you later...
almost the same except when you come off at junction 4 turn left then up to the lights, you\'ll see what i mean - it\'s easy!!
Its cool mate, i know exactly where the jet garage is. Will call you then mate.
