Title: Anyone done this?
Post by: Big Stu on December 20, 2004, 12:40:44 PM
I want to put my gauges in the space double din slot under my stereo.

What i need to know is? How easy is this. I want to put a boost gauge, water temp, and probably an oil temp gauge in there.

What will i need to remove to do this??

Cheers

Stu

HKS do a kit for the FD, it holds any 2 hks units ie turbo timer and boost controller and also a guage - might be nicer than just the usual 3 guages.

This is easy enough if you use 46mm or electrical gauges. :D

What about wiring them in??

Will i need to take a lot of the dash apart, or is there an easy route from behind the central console to a nicely placed plugged hole in the firewall??

Mines got 3 gauges in the bottom slot of the double din from left to right oil temp, oil pressure and water temp. To be absolutely honest it is the most stupid place to put gauges IMO  first (probably most important reason) you have to take your eyes off the road to see them, ok i know you wont be doing it often but all the same it only takes a second to bin it

Second reason in 1st, 3rd and 5th you cant see the left hand gauge anyway so it might as well not be there and (this applies to my car) oil temp is probably the most important of my 3 gauges. I have now got one of those pods that sit in the center speaker place on top of the dash (much more sensible place) and when it\'s not too cold will be moving them. Oh and mine are capillary jobbies too which are being upgraded to electric.
