Title: Help wanted please
Post by: Jasoncoed on December 19, 2004, 02:01:21 PM
Ok so day 2 of my rx and my first problem. MY car lost all power and cut out on me. When i got it back home i restarted it but it wont idle and keeps cutting out on me. Is this a major problem or is it easily fixed, the car came with a 1 year warranty so hopefully any faults will be covered. Cheers for any help or info in advance.

Its a 93 type x it has around 92000 km on the clock. The engine will fire but will not idle it cuts out.

What where you doing when it cut out?
When you start it, is it running rough with revs.
Will it continue to run with gas.
Has the engine been rebuilt.

If one of the tips has fractured, the car will run on the other rotor, but the car has no power of feels really rough.

A third gen rx7 needs rebuilding every 60k miles approx.

But it could also be fuel filter blockage, or ignition coil, or spark plug or many other things.

So its not worth depairing yet!!

The car will run if i push the excelerater pedal. I brought it back from birmingham yesterday ( 90 miles) no problems. I took it for a drive today and as i went up a hill i lost power. It hasnt had an engine rebuild, but it has just had a service by WGT. Could the fact that it is on a gradient, my drive and it is facing upwards having anything to do with the problem.
Title: Fuelling !!

Could be a fuelling problem...I would get it back to Pips (WGT) ASAP. Could be some crap in filter. I think there is a final filter underneath the main air intake elbow connected to the plenum.
I\'m no expert though !

Quite common for cat to collapse. This gives same symptoms.

Has car got stock exhaust system.

Jap cars have no front pipe cat, but still have cat in centre section.

I live in South Wales, so getting back to WGT would be a problem, especially as it is not running properly at the moment. As for the exhaust system, i dont know if it is standard or not, i am afraid im not the most mechanically minded, the back box has a twin tail pipe, if that helps at all.

Inlet manifold gasket? If that\'s leaking then it won\'t idle properly.
