I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the little slot in the AUTO gearbox surround on the 92\' FD3S is for?
I thought perhaps maybe you put the ignition key in there to lock the gearbox, but i dont want to try it in case i do something wrong and break it somehow.
Can anyone answer this question for me please,
Thanks,
Ken...
It is for putting the ignition key into if you want to put the gearbox into another gear apart from Park without starting the engine. You won\'t damage anything.

Thanks for that Carl :D .
So if i put it into \'N\' do i have to put the key into the slot and put the car back into park befor i start the car?
As far as I\'m aware, you can only start an auto when in Park.
You don\'t have to put the key in again to move the selector back to park, the lock release is only to get out of park.
Rgds
You can put the box into either neutral or Park to start the engine.
As has been said you don\'t need the key to move back into park.
If you ever break down and need to tow the car or move it and you have stopped in park then you need to move the box to neutral in order to do that.Just do not tow far or fast like that.

Carl
Cheers for the help guy\'s, i dont supose you might know what the little IR dome in the top right corner of the dashboard (just under the windscreen) is by anychance?
Thought it might be an alarm sensor but cant see how you activate the alarm?
Cheers,
Ken...
If the car came with climate control then this\'ll be the sensor for it - had the same thing on my MR2.
