As far as im aware the import cars run anything fron 265 Bhp + because they dont have a pre-CAT and are mapped to run on Japanese fuel which is around 100 RON.

I guess you could have your pre-CAT removed and run on Optimax but its only about 98.5 RON?

BP unleaded is the first 100 ron road fuel, i used to use this combined with castrol octane booster (avilable from halfords) with gave it another 1-3 ron for a rally spec engine i used to run!

not in this country anyway despite the rumours when it was first coming out the ultimate aint as good RON as optimax & many boinger folks find they have worst det with it over optimax but on the other hand some say they get better results swings & roundabouts but there aint no pump 100RON from yer usual places in the UK :(

So the best that you can get at the pumps is Optimax? which is 98.5?

Optimax is 98 ron. Bear in mind the quality will differ depending on how long the fuel has been stored. I buy Esso sul locally as my nearest optimax station has a very slow turnover.

This sounds stupid but if ultimate is 97 why do they sell it twice on the forecourt near me they have 95, 97 then ultimate?

BP sell it more on it\'s cleaning and reduced engine friction qualities:

I\'ve always used Shell Optimax when I can

May be its my car, but i have found that may car runs better with BP rather then Shell optimax and thats with a single as well, has anybody else founds this to be the case.

Might be the timing.Depends on the fuel burn rate.

Surely the BP MON rating is more important than the RON rating tho?
