Title: Power (not)
Post by: Ows on December 15, 2004, 11:19:49 PM
Had my car on a rolling road and it only came up with 212 BHP
@ fly. Thing is it feels alot more than that and is way faster than my 280bhp mr2 turbo I used to have.
The man said it boosts up real fast in a nice curve but then just dies off.
Thought I would get a little more than 212bhp dam it

That figure must be at the wheels. The flywheel figure of UK cars was 237hp and early Jap cars 255hp,then laterones were 265hp and 280hp.
Yours must be one of these,if you have an Apexi then you could be making more, unless you have a problem with something.

I said to the guy "that must be at the wheels" but he said no he changed into fly already so 212fwbhp.
Yeah its the FD in my pic box it a
1994 type r
HKS back box
Dragon mid pipe
HKS filters.
Dont get it at all, feels strong to me.
Bloke said his rolling road was just about spot on.

Either he is lying or you have problems.  Does it boost properly?

I would suggest you find someone else near you on the forum, and try out their car, if it feels faster then I\'d say you have a problem, if it feels the same then I\'d say the dyno used was sh*t.

If the boost is building properly and then dropping off it\'s possibly a sign of exhaust restriction - in my case the cat had started to disintegrate.

A quick de-cat and mapping and all was well in Iain land.

iaint- I have already had a decat pipe fitted so dont think it is that.

Boost all looks ok.

Think I might have to find another dyno so if anyone knows a good one near Telford could they let me knon please

Other possibilities are clutch slip or slipping wheels on the dyno?

ah ha the dyno rollers were shiny and slippy, are they all like that??
and it had been raining outside and he did not spend long drying my wheels.
He says it did not slip though
Think he was crap really.
Anyway have fitted a power fc now and need to get it mapped and try again.

Try Thor in Coventry - yet to hear anything bad about them.

Ah, I read you post to mean that the boost wen\'t up to the right place and then trailed off (it should remain constant apart from the drop during transmission to the 2nd turbo.
