Hi All.
I\'m having a problem with my second gen T2, i have a miss fire that only happens when the engine is coming off cold start (with hot water and warm oil) proberly after 5 mins of running.
It does\'nt mater if its on or off boost, it does it between 3-5k and if you hold the rev\'s it clears quite quickly as for the engine its not loosing water and is on a fresh build (aprox 6 months old very good comp). I have just serviced it to try to sort the fault (Plugs, leads, oil filter etc etc) and it has made no diffrence.
Now i\'m thinking of the std stuff Coil packs and Cranks senser?
As for the history of it all, i have just bought the car and the guy i bought it off told me it had been doing it for around three months? he is not to clued up on sevens but i rebuilt the engine so i know it was a Apex problem not heat related? It has an After market Exhaust fitted, some minor mods nothing serious and its done 62,ooo miles in total.
Does anyone have any other idea\'s?
Cheers
Chris
Hi Chris,
After checking that the CAS cable is insulated, earth the braided insulation to the alternator mount. Other areas to investigate are, making sure the pump is getting good voltage, clean relay and good earths. Run extra earths from the chassis to the leading coils, and at the ECU too. I am pretty sure this will be an earth related problem.
Good luck,

There is usually a slight dip in power around these revs if the engine is not completely warm, when the Secondary ports open.
Is its actually a misfire, then, yes, its most likely an earthing problem.
It would sugest it is a Electrical problem, i have just asked if he noticed it got any worse when its Cold or wet out side.
He said it ran better during summer than winter so it does sound like a bad conection.
I\'ll try putting in a nw earth to the Pump then move it around until it gets better then i\'ll do a proper job and rewire what ever it is.
I would not be suprised if it was the Pump though, how it Misfires is like fuel cut (like the ignition is turned off then back on)
