Title: What should come next?
Post by: Sean on December 01, 2004, 09:35:31 AM
Okay, most of you know that I\'m getting my new twin turbo next week (well I haven\'t shut up about it:rolleyes: ), and coming from owning an FC, I don\'t know as much about modifying these.
So far the list is as follows;

What do you lot think I should do next? I\'m not looking for stupid power, just enough to stay ahead of my mates MR2 (on the track of course). Pip says it\'ll be around 325bhp at the moment.

Oh and do keep in mind that I\'m on a tight budget, having just bought it and lashed out on the power FC before I even picked up the car:rolleyes:

Thats a rash statement matey - how deep are your pockets

1 - FMIC
2 - bigger injectors
3 - hard intercooler pipes
4 - single turbo

the list is possibly endless matey

are you looking for power mods or reliability ?

If you want to keep up around the track, then the best, cheapest thing you could do is get:
"high performance driving" book by Bob Bondurant, and DONT tell your friend about it!

Saw your car at Pip\'s a few weeks back...

It looks an absolutely stunning paint job - hope you enjoy the drive!

All the best

Durn, haven\'t got that one!

I\'ve got
Track Day Driver\'s Guide: How to Prepare Your Car and Yourself for the Thrills of High-speed Circuit Driving by Art Markus

Get that too!

Sean, you coming to the Northern meet?

should be on the list somewhere, but the PFC can hold 2 boost maps so I wouldn\'t have thought it immediatly necessary.

Still as I mentioned on another thread, all the stage 1 mods have been done and stage 2 is always more costly as you are looking at intercoolers, injectors (keep the 550 primaries and go 1300 or 1600 secondaries), brake upgrades, single turbo or maybe go non sequential as that shouldn\'t be too costly.

I think next stage should be: FMIC or my personal fave V-Mount IC :D, of course u could go Water Injection, mmmmm cool air!

Okay ...... As for arriving Friday, I meant the book (but it hasn\'t turned up yet:mad: ).

Brakes ...... I forgot to mention the grooved and drilled discs on the front, with fresh pads all round.

I am going to the Northern meet, and it\'s looking good to turn up in the beast itself:D

Boost controller ..... I\'m looking into this at the moment. Thing is, I don\'t know which one would work best with the powerFC (and look good in the cockpit;)

Injectors ........ I don\'t know the first thing about doing this, or how it affects the car, or how far to go:confused:  Think I need to have a chat with Pip on that one.

So who uses what boost controller, and how happy are you with it?

Dont want to sound like a Bore but i\'d get some Halk pads/Grooved disks and some Struts.

I always like to corner well and stop before i give it loads of HP.;)

Through a combination of hearsay and personal experience I\'d avoid an AVC-R (hard to get right), and I have to say nearly every car I\'ve been properly impressed by has had a Profec, to the point I don\'t think it\'s a coincidence!

You should p**s all over that MR2 with a standard FD, you\'re FC wasnt far off of kicking him.  I think you\'ll find that 325bhp + lots of practice will see good results.

That book arrived Martiny;)

So the profec one is the recomended then ...... I\'ll look into it.

AndyP - I\'m going to the ring in Easter with the Toyota club. They asked first:rolleyes:

We are arriving there on Good Friday, spending the weekend there before coming back. I think we will be staying at a hotel in Koblenz, not too far away.

We are getting a group booking at our hotel, but I believe nothing is being booked until early Feb, I guess this is when the calendar is being confirmed:confused:
