Had the Rex on the road for 1 week now, almost finished running in miles too. All was going great until the journey home from work this evening, when something decided to let go and the engine dropped all of its oil onto the road. After 1 1/2 hour wait for the AA to pick me up its back at home, too dark to see what\'s happened so I\'ll have to wait till tomorrow. All I know at the moment is there didn\'t seem to be a loss of power, and as I pulled off the road and stopped, the engine was idling ok (Turned it off as soon as I stopped). Not the start I was looking for in Rex ownership.
Unhappy Bunny :(
Gutted for you!
Hopefully the engine builder has given the engine a waranty and you can get it sorted under that.
Sorry to hear that mate, i guess you should ring the place you got the rebuild from and tell them the problem, hopefully if warrantied you should be ok to get it fixed???
Hopefully nothing too bad hey?:(
sump plug ?
without looking at the car or knowing a few more details its not easy to say whats up with it.
I was thinking sump plug myself just now. There was a pop and something bounced along the bottom of the car before the plumes of smoke. I was accelerating in third, got to 4500 rpm and just started to feel the second turbo. Was a loud pop, for a moment I thought it was a blow out, until the batmobile oilslick and smoke filled the cabin. I\'ll have a little look underneath in the daylight tomorrow, before I give Tim a call. I was only at RX Motors a week ago!!
Thanks for the simpathy guys, I\'m sure you realise how miffed I feel right now.
:eek
aww no! :(
gutted for you simon mate.
sincerely hope it\'s something small, quick and inexpensive to fix.
gord:D
Might be the oil cooler lines. they\'re only held on with a wire clip that I had to re-tension on mine (after it spat them off twice!) when I\'d rebuilt. I\'ve seen pictures in Jap magazines with a zip tie holding them on for extra security.
Ok here\'s what\'s happened..
Firstly it appears that the nut that holds on the power steering/air con belt tension pulley, had come off. This was then followed by the pulley itself, leaving the belt very loose and flapping about. The belt looks as if it\'s then wrapped itself around the eccentric shaft pulley, broke in half, and then wipped around to slice off an oil cooler pipe! How this all happened in the first place I\'m not sure, but the car will be going back down to RX Motors as soon as possible, and Tim will put it right and find out what went wrong! At least it\'s not dead. Just wounded slightly.
I\'m relieved somewhat, but frustrated to be without the Rex after only a week! The father in laws fiesta I\'m borrowing is not the same. :(
Good to here its nothing chronic:)
Hopefully sorted soon and that will be that :cool
