Title: Tyre width.
Post by: Rotorboy65 on November 30, 2004, 07:28:07 AM
Just a quick one peeps, whats the widest tyre I could fit too an 18 inch by 7.5 alloy wheel. Not for me but seen some nice alloys for the wifes S2000. But alas it only comes in a 7.5 width, any thoughts folks......cheers Leigh.

Alright forget it, have a look around this section.  I dont see anyone else except me giving any sort of wheel advice.

Buy them and see if I care if they dont fit or feck the car up.

No they ain\'t ment for a Corsa and such mate, and they are coming over from japan not the local boy racer shop. I asked a civil question and expected something civil as a reply....Leigh.

As mentioned earlier, 7.5" is a bit on the narrow side to say the least. You\'d probably squeeze 245s on them but the sidewall will bulge and it\'d develop jelly like handling qualities :(
225s maximum I\'d guess. What\'s standard on a s2000?

225s are standard on the S2k I\'ve got 225s on ty 16 x 7 rims, apparantly could go to 235 but I wouldn\'t want to. I\'d suggest speaking to a DECENT tyre supplier for advice

Thanks for the replies guys, my first thoughts were they would be too narrow will make some more enquires if they do wider fittings. The problem is the wife wants some Racing Hart\'s and as you know they cost the earth. Have found some wheels from a maker called Katana, and they do a wheel that is just like the Hart\'s she likes called VR6. Not 100% sure if they do wider fittings than 7.5. J4PRX I must say sorry if you ment the advice as truly helpful when I saw your post I thought you were being a bit sarky with the mention of Corsa\'s etc. Had just got in from work and was a bit cheesed off, I mean  no offence too yourself, Like I said before sorry mate, realise you were giving advice for the best intensions Cheers Leigh.

Ahh its ok, I didnt mean anything really.  If youve read all my posts in this section for ages you would realise I have a passion against tiny wheels.

It happens all the time here that people keep asking if they can put these nasty tiny Fox alloys on from halfords and stuff hehe.  Fact of the matter is most wheels available in the UK are crap on jap cars as the offsets and width isnt available.

For what its worth, I already said I think that is too narrow.

Something to be mindful of on the S2000 is its weird offset.  I think the standard wheels are really high (im not sure, I dont know much about Hondas).  Youll need to be careful what offset you ask for.  Maybe even more so than the width on the S2000.
