Hi, as the titile, just wanna get some opinions if the engine is useable(only rebuilt 1.5k ago). :( Also, what\'s that belt?? It must have snapped in the accident.
Might want to buy the salvage back if it\'s a good price. Any ideas how much I should pay for it?? How much to have a engine transplant??
Cheers

Think that\'s the cambelt....
only kidding ;)
Engine would be okay as would most of the gubbins in the engine bay judging by the pictures.
Iain
Looks like the power steering belt. But need some of the bits removed to get a better idea.

J.j. , that\'s not what caused the crash is it? Sudden loss of steering??
Excellent thought Pete, that looks like steering and air con pump, belt to me, its missing off the tension pulley, Now that Pete has pionted that out im gonna check mine now!
Bob
I agree with Iain, i think the engine would be ok looking at that,, though i would have a look underneath to see if the engine mounts have been shifted on thier frame, if thats damaged that might change things,
Bob
How do I check that??
Take a pic from under the car?? Don\'t think I\'ll be able to remove the underseal by myself there without any jacks and tools........
:(
Sudden loss of steering........
Not sure, the whole thing happened so quickly. The tail just kicked out without warning, And I tried, really really tried to save it. I didn\'t lift off the throttle, but eased off. opposite lock...... didn\'t seemed to have made any difference........

a power steering belt will not cause loss of steering, at any speed but crawling along the assistance from the hydraulics would be minimal.
as above really, without stripping it down and looking at the engine mountings etc. for damage (the engine in my rally car had to be scrapped due to previous accident damge to an engine mounting.) I presume it wasn\'t run at all after the accident ? so no damage from overheating or debris getting into the engine.
Yeah, know it won\'t cause loss of steering as such but it can catch you out when the steering suddenly goes from light to heavy.
Best way to get an idea of what it\'s like is to go 60mph along a twisty B road and, press the clutch and switch the engine off as you\'re approaching the next bend. Maybe not!
power steering is speed sensitive on most modern cars, by 60mph it will have cut off almost totally, hence no difference
No, the engine wasn\'t run after the accident.
So there\'s no way that I can know if it\'s worth buying it back then??
Chris philp offer me transplanting mine on to a car of his, but obviously I\'ll have to make sure mine\'s running.....
Anyone\'s had any work done by him??
Also how much should it cost to transplan an engine??
How much should I pay for the salvage??
Thanks a lot
