Post by: scoobster on November 27, 2004, 10:10:29 PM
Has anyone got a Mongoose system on their car? just looking for some feedback on what people think of them, i know they sound good on my mates sunny GTI-R but wanted to know what they are like for the FD and what the looks and build quality are like

Not seen one on an FD, but they do a good one for the FC.
Everything they do is custom built, so should be good, and they are only round the corner to me;)

How much power do you want in the end, and how big can Mongoose bend pipe? A lot of the custom stuff about on boingers isnt man enough for a high power rotor...

I had a mongoose on my fto. Very nice pipes, but one really big warning, if you get one and its delivered then make the postman wait while you check the package, they are obliged to wait upto 30 mins while you check a package. They really don\'t know how to package parts for reduction of dings ! I had to travel about 30 miles to pick mine up from Night Break and signed for it. The back box was almost peirced and it took some wrangling to sort out. In the end they did replace it because of a wrong postcode on their front.

But beweare.

It fit very well and was well put together, didn\'t need any real alterations. Shame they have a chimp in packing !

Strange that, we can hold them for upto 30 minutes at work to check a package ! Night break had said we where ok to do so.

If its anything like the one i had on my fto it started quiet and then slowly built up to a loud fantastic sound. They are good quality exhaust, build quality and sound quality. Would buy one again if need be.

You could hear the fto miles away ! Amazing sound, not good for motorway driving. I ended up sound deadening the car boot doors and roof to reduce the noise.

And that was only 3.5in bore ! The rx7 one must be mental !

I had one on my s14 200sx.  OK build quality (welds were ok quality, centre pipe was mild steel only) but very quiet compared to other brands (eg Blitz/HKS/etc).  Not sure how it would be on the FD but they are OK.

They are made by a company called Blue Flame IIRC and can be obtained quite often on ebay....
