Post by: initialD on November 26, 2004, 12:43:11 AM
if a turbo II is overheating, should the thermostat or thermostat housing be removed or replaced?

I would take it off just to see if its operating correctly using a kettle of boiling water.

If it doesn\'t open, I know someone thats selling one;)

cheers for that and I saw that someones breaking a white one.

I ask because I saw a car advertised and the guy claims its overheating and he has broken the thermostat by removing it. From what you say there is some truth in the story.

youve been looking on ebay havent you matey :)

if he drove it whilst its been over heating - thats not a good sign for the engine

i thought he said that he broke the HOUSING for it - not the thermostat itself

yes thats the one. :D

I dont have a big budget, but Im looking for something special and dont mind doing a bit of work, although I prefer a car that looks bad but runs well as thats easier for me.

If this is just gonna be a drift car then it might be easier to have one with an open diff and get it welded up.  Cheap and effective but not so nice to live with.  Depends what you want it for though.

The amount you will spend on getting an fd in fair condition, will get your FC`s body sorted plus have enough to finish her off to a much better standered than any fd for the same price....plus engine work. I know it is hard...Keep the faith.

this is what i keep thinking - i already have the car - all the toys needs fitting and once finished i reckon on about 235 BHP at the wheels - which i would be happy with :)

but there is a white FD for sale - and its calling me to buy it :(

i think cause i havent driven the FC in months - it seems easier to buy an FD - when i had the FC on the road i never gave the FD a second look - and always said that the FC was the car for me as they are so rare and there arent many of them

i just need to ride this out the best i can - get the FC ready for RS-05 and enjoy it :) :)

and try to get the 1/4 mile under 15 seconds :(

Year no worries, i know which FD has stolen your heart, and it is a lovely example. I am reading a book on the development of the FD at the moment, and to be honest i don`t want to read it as every page shows a shortfall of the FC. I will own one someday, but not at the expence or replacment of my present car.
The FC definatly has more character, if not as much charm.
See you at RS05...trying to pinch my trophy. :p

your trophy is safe :)

well apart from Gman and Sadgoth hot on your tail :)

i think i will have to wait for the FC to give up the ghost before the FD arrives

im saying that now - then in another 1hr or so i will want an FD and then it goes on like this until my head explodes :(

Grinder,

Don\'t forget that mine needed a re-build because it was stood for a while. Run yours for 20mins or so every now and then, I don\'t want you to give up on it! Look at how much work I did on mine, and it paid off (okay I\'ll never get my cash back, but I\'ve enjoyed one hell of a car since then).

Everytime I see you talking about your car, you sound like you want to give up on it.

Like 88GT-R says ....... Keep the faith!
I know I sold it for an FD, but do as I say not what I do!
