Title: Battery relocation?
Post by: Shaq on November 24, 2004, 10:50:46 PM
I have done a search but cant seem to find anything,

So in my quest for more horse power I came across a slight problem

I need a smaller batt, thing is do you think there is enough space for a smaller Battery ?

I was thinking of an odyssey PC680 but where can I get this from?

And

If I was to relocate to the boot what do I use to hold the batt down?

Any suggestion would be great !

Thanks

The Mini Battery kit uses the Odyssey Dry Cell PC680 Battery.  Battery  weighs only 14.5 lbs.  The kit comes with polished aluminum box, battery, and battery posts for a bolt-on installation.  The Mini Battery Kit can be used with Rotary Extreme V-mount, Greddy front mount intercooler, and most large size stock mount intercooler.

Battery Specs:

Length 7 in.
Width 3 1/16 in.
Height 6 5/8 in.
Drycell Battery
12 Volt
16 Ah @ 10hr rate
280 CCA
680 Cranking Amps for 5 Seconds
28 Minute Reserve Capacity
Cycle life @ 77°F 400 at 100% DOD
-40°F to 140°F Temperature Range
Note: The battery kit is meant for daily driven cars.  If you are going to park your car for more than a week, the battery will be drained.  If you are going to park your car for more than a week, it\'s recommended that you disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent drainage or use a battery tender.

for daily use I would think so, as continually charging when moving, but see previous post

Err I think you\'d better hope it never floods with a small battery, eh?

As for putting the Battery inside ( some people use the back seat) , consider the safety:

1) Make sure its held down really really well. You dont want that flying round the cabin in a crash!!
2) There is a danger of the water running out if the battery is upside down or on its side. (If the car rolled over, say) You can get a waterproof battery case from a Marine shop.

Yes, That Demon tweeks one looks proper.

look s nice i saw that when i was searching,

thing is i can get a  smaller one but they are all like £100-£150
cant be dealing with those sort of prices.

so how did you guys secure your batt down in the boot what did you use?

Really you should be bolting a battery tray (inside a sealed battery box) into the boot.
Batteries are heavy old things and would make a very destructive projectile in a crash!

okay,

so i think i will just Bolt the Standard battery tray on to the boot floor and use the battery tie down I get with stock battery?

if i remember right there is already one bolt hole on the boot. thn drilled another.  Make sure that there is nothing underneath.  I just bolted the new battery box, discarded the old tray.

I\'ve got a PC680 battery in my FD.

Purchased it from http://www.knightbatteries.com/

Good service.

Battery starts the car with no problems. Will quite happily turn the engine over for 20 seconds or so. Mine always starts after about 2 or 3 secs.

I dont use my car on a daily basis, once a week if that and so the battery goes flat over a period of 2 weeks or so due to my alarm system. Due to this I also have a portable power pack to help out when its been standing for long periods

HTH

Cool,

Mine arrived next day.

When I got it I thaught this thing is way too small no way its got enough umph to turn the car over but it works like a charm.  Its 3 times smaller than the varta battery that was in there before.

Glad I could help.
