Alright all,
I\'ve been offered a stock \'95 Rex with 45K on the clock for cheap - and need some help.
I wasn\'t going to buy one this year, thought I\'d leave it till Spring -but the prices are so rock
bottom at the moment, it seems smart to snatch a bargain before the prices rise next year.
Its a good one - just imported, past SVA, no mods, nice and clean, MOT and Tax for 10 months...
I know engines can go *cough...spurt...die* at any point - its all down to lifestyle.
However, I wanted to get an idea of what I can do to diagnose a sudden engine bill.
I thought a compression test would be a good idea - but I\'ve been told that good compression doesn\'t guarantee
a strong engine - and it could still go pop at any time.
The car is in near Canary Wharf - is there a mazda specialist around East London that I could book the car into?
I imagine it would be worth spending £100 getting a car checked over, rather than being presented with a
£3,000 bill in a few months.
Any suggestions all?
Or could I offer free beer to a knowledgeable MRC member to come and have a look with me - and bring an AA man?

:)
I dont think the Mazda dealer would be much help as most rx7\'s were not meant for the uk so limited knowlegde on them, best thing would be to either ask a MRC member who knows their stuff to go with you and repay them for their time or get a rx specialist to help you, London wise am i right in saying Brian Ellis is around there somewhere???
Hope that helps

Where near Canary Wharf? That\'s where I live and I only know of one rex close by other than mine!!
I wouldn\'t count myself as a mechanical expert by any means but given I\'m so close by I don\'t mind having a first look with you. At least you could compare it to my car then which is also a stock (ish) 95.
