Can anyone tell me what diameter hoses are needed for a complete vacuum hose replacement and also how much i\'ll need?
Going to get it done this weekend and have it all done in red with red ties.
Should look nice.
Apparently you only need 10ft of 4mm bore and 2ft of 6mm bore (according to posts on rx7club.com). Probably best get a bit more just to be on the safe side :)
this URL (http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/vacuum_hose_replacement.html) is pretty handy if you haven\'t already seen it.
Cheers
Viton is about the best tubing for the job.

doesn\'t sound too bad........GULP :eek
Be prepared on Saturday paople for all the questions i\'ll no doubt have.
Providing Demon Tweeks can get the hose here quick enough.
On the bright side it\'ll help me find the tiny oil leak I seem to have!
Can anyone post a some pics of what it should look like when i put it all back together??
just for some reference if i get stuck?
there\'s a colour coordinated diagram of the hoses in the URL above. It\'s for a US car but the differences to jap/UK cars are described in the text.
As Fish said, viton hose would be best if you can grab some
Hi Dale, Remember to twist all the pipes with pliers to loosen them as they will be baked on to the pressure chambers/pipes/valves. Remember the one i broke! ;)
Cheers

Good Luck!
If you\'ve got a digital camera, take lots of pics beforehand, and label all hoses or you will get lost real easy:eek:

NO NO NO!!!!!!
Cut the old pipes off with a very sharp blade. Trying to find a replacement solenoid on a Sat. afternoon wont happen. ;)

I need to start this job too :(
You need closer to 60\' hose IIRC :(
Just found this:

Worked well when i did it, i just gripped the pipe and slowly moved it from side to side and they all came away just fine, if you cut you have to be careful not to cut into the pipe itself... Diferent ways of doing everything i suppose... :)
Give Merlin Motorsport a call for the Vac Hose. Had plenty in stock and were very fast at delivering.
Be very easy when pulling the old hoses off. Not the easiest of jobs in the world, I would say don\'t do it unless you really need to. Also make sure you have a nice collection of long nose pliers to make it easy to get to the lower solenoids :rollin
I split the ends of the old hoses then twisted them off.
yipeeeeeeee, finally managed to figure out what that "check valve" was Donato!!
It IS the PCV valve - aparently our cars actually have 2! There\'s a big one which everyone knows - the one attached to the oil filler neck.... then there\'s a smaller one that goes to the purge control solenoid! It\'s this little one that\'s broke on my car (part number nf01 13-890) It\'s stuck in the open position and i\'m sure thats whats causing the small drop in boost.
Anyone happen to have a spare one lying around??? Mazda will bend me over the desk if i ask them for it!
Still hoping to get the vacuum hoses done this weekend - hope the weather stays good.
Good luck mate.
I\'m sure someone told me there\'s about 30 feet of vac hose in there and from the time I\'ve spent staring at it all, it doesn\'t seem unbelievable!
ten feet doesn\'t seem like enough to me.
Looking forward to pics though ...
Preferably the \'look how cool this is\' pics instead of the\'does nayone know where this hose goes\' pics. :rollin
The best thing will be when i finish putting it back together and I sit back and go aaaaahhhhhhh! i managed the impossible!
I\'ll also be able to track down where the oil leak is from. It seems to have stopped tho since i done the oil change.
Should be getting my boot install done in a few weeks.....mmmmm
imagine - no parcel shelf - just a flush fitting smooth area with an embossed efini logo on it - all finished in cream alcantara with the logo in red - you won\'t see the 2 infinity subs hidden behind the alcantara but you\'ll feel them. Then when you open the boot lid all you\'ll see is the Rockford 500 Watt bd amp sunk into the shelf. and lighting it from behind will be a red neon which will just be giving off a faint glow.......
sounds nice eh?
I might just have to stop in Livingston to see that on my way home to Aberdeen or on my way back to Bicester :D
Planning a trip for Xmas / New Year if the weather doesn\'t make driving the rex up too risky/scary/dangerous.
pop in any time..... I\'m meeting the guy tomorrow to discuss exactly whats getting done. He\'ll then tell me how long i\'ll have to give up the rex for..... :( :( :( :(
Reckon 2/3 days. hopefully it\'ll go away on the monday nite, then i\'ll have it back on wednesday. Then I can show off on wed nite!!
I have the stereo equipment already so it\'s just the install itself. £350 it\'s costing so it\'d better be good!
