Title: Picking up mine Tomorrow
Post by: gmogle on November 16, 2004, 09:56:05 PM
Hurrah,

I am picking up my RX7 tomorrow...... and I cant wait !!

Are there any things I should be looking out for when it comes to driving them?

The engine has been rebuilt so i wont be reving it over 4500rpm.

But having come from a front wheeled car I think it will be quite different !!!

Am currently praying it isnt gonna rain !!!!

In case you are wondering its a 1993 Type R with perf exhaust, blitz dump valve, feed hard pipes, power fc and commander and also 2 blitz AC gauges in the A Pillar.

Will take some pics when I am off thurs and post them up.

Ended up facing the central reservation on the A14 after picking mine up.  Just be bloody careful even up to 4500 rpm.  If you want to push it once its run in do it in an open space with nothing to hit b4 you try it on the road to see where the limits are.

Cheers Gman,

I will be careful, theres a lot of stories here of people not used to the cars, grease on the road etc so I intend to take it slow.

Will be coming to the Saffron Walden meet though on sat so it will be good to meet you guys.

Cheers,

Gareth

Just learn the way a rx handles before you try to see how fast it goes, people always think they are great drivers but even the best get caught out sooner or later:(

Well... picked it up today and drove it back.

All I can say is WOW !!

The car is unbelievably quick.

I didnt expect it to rev up so quickly, 4000rpm comes round almost immediately. Its just incredible !!

Have been taking it very slow but its amazing the engine just picks up straight away in any gear.

I am gobsmacked, although have gone through almost a quarter of a tank so far :(

But who cares when you have got a car this good.

And the people that just stop and stare as you go past....I feel like royalty.

Although I did have one saxo owner think it was funny to race of the lights !! Needless to say I didnt indulge him. well not yet anyway !!!

Gobsmacked....thought the car was gonna be good but not this good !!!

See you saturday at Saffron Walden. I\'ll be the one with the huge grin on my face !!!

Will take some pics tomorrow and post them up.

Cheers,

Gareth

Yeah of course...oops.

The car is amazing, its everything I wanted and much more. Driving down to saffron Walden behind Alex was ace, the number of people going past (well I was only doing 70 as I am running in the engine) with their mouths open was amazing!

Although it is true what you guys say.....they are thirsty !!!

Anyway heres the pics. Sorry that there are a few :D

"Looks a sweet car matey, well done very smooth!!!"

Cheers Mate,

I wanna change the Efini badges to the later spec Mazda wings one on the front and back of the car but other than that dont wanna do anything.

Its wicked and I cant stop looking at it and thinking  :yes its mine !!!!

Yeah sorry its got struts and springs. I was really worried when I first saw it because I didnt think it would make it over the speed bumps, luckily it has been ok and only scraping the front splitter on the enormous ones. Plus its ok in a Multistorey car park aswell which is cool.

Although I am very careful where I park, Multistoreys are the place that you seem to get all the parking dents from !!

Picture the scene, Mum takes children out for a day out, gets in bus/MPV and loads kids in, kids play in the back and annoy Mum, Mum parks in Multistorey, Kids open the door and just slam it into the car next door, Parking dents galore  !!

Seen it happen loads of time plus I have been in a car when its been done !!

Hmmmm, about the rear of the car, lots of people now just de-badge the rear leaving the badge in the middle only, it keeps people guessing what the hell it is????

Thats a cool thought.

Although I would wanna change the Efini badges as i have the later spec alloys and they have the new Mazda Wings badge.

Any ideas where to get this from? Mazda ? An MX5 place?

I\'d think you\'d have to ring the usual rx7 specialists, the one that comes to mind for stuff like that would be Ross @ //www.dragonperformance.co.uk ;)
