Title: Solid engine mounts
Post by: mrfitz on November 15, 2004, 09:15:49 PM
Have got myself some solid aluminium engine mounts but am not sure if it is wise to fit them.  Does it put lots more stress on other areas that are not designed to take it?  Do you get more vibrations in the car with them?  Do many people have them fitted and what are your opinions?

Thanks,

Mark.

I put some solid engine mounts in my old 106 GTi and it was absolutely unbearable due the vibrations running from the engine running through the car.  Almost shook my teeth out.

I have solid engine and rear diff mounts fitted, and wouldnt say that the vibration is that different.

All I would say is that if doing the engine do the rear diff as well.

Hi Danny,

Yeah, I remember you saying the other day about your diff ones being solid too.  It\'s just some guys at work thought the detrimental effects of the solid mounts would outweigh the gains.

I\'m not really sure so thought I\'d ask around.

ps. Did you send the bag of bits I forgot?

Thanks,

Mark.
