Just a quick thread to check with other FD owners.
I have recently removed the huge number plate from the front of my FD. Looks much better without it in my opinion. Not sure how legal this is or isn\'t tho.
I do have a vinyl/adhesive plate getting made. What i want to know is can it be left off without getting grief from the authorities?
Or have other owners done the same but then had to put the plate back on?
Cheers

Go without!!!!!
There are a number of owners out there without a front plate.
If those nice people in blue start giving you grief, put your sticky on. But wait until they start causing problems.
Most of the time they will leave you well alone.

fish u most know some nice coppers:( i was done 30.00 for mine being too small(motorcycle plate)on new years eve by the surrey c--tstabluary and told that i was a naughty boy.how much safer i feel knowing the muggers/rapists/thieves etc can roam the county while 8 of surreys finest patrol 500yds from my house handing out fines.shame those same 8 useless gits wernt around when my house was broken into....rant over still angry after 18 months
Dont try and take the pi$$ with a small plate, just run without one then let them complain about that. You are more likely to get away without than a silly little one. ;)

I think you met a mugger that day :D
Thats the penalty you will get if you dont have one and they make the effort though.
its easyer to catch a guy for having no reggy on the front than a burgaler they might actualy have to do some work then and we cant have that!
I will leave it for the time being and see what happens. The previous plate that was on there was so BIG i am sure it was creating unneccessary drag.

I was under the impression you could have a motorcycle plate on a import car. is there a strict size for the plate ? i was told that as long as the font is the same size and width throghtout the whole plate, including the width of the font all round its curvature. and the center spacing ie L*** WAH is double the spacing of the other numbers/letters then there was no prob. i used to have a 13in front plate and a 17in rear plate on a astra gsi bout 5 years ago. i got fined £30 quid but they upheld the complaint.ie they fined me for illegal spacing. it wasnt. I drove my fd with no plate for most of the year with no probs. keep it in the car as leave a dirty mark on the nose. "it feel of guv up the road"

As a lot of you know l use my car a lot, and in two years l have had no number plate on the front and had no grief , l do however carry a small front plate thats tucked down the side of my seat just incase, for the it just fell off hofficer story;)
Also if you run without a front plate you dont need to worry about specs cameras! Result:rollin
go the flip style,
Oh officer, It came loose again.
It folds up at about 35mph.
I need a spring so it comes back.
Where can we get the flip style holder from? (I remember seeing it somewhere, but not where :( )
Ta.
I lasted 2 weeks without a plate before Officer pig gave me a producer :(
I went 9 months without a front plate on my last car (a modded celica).
I had a plate in the window though, although you could only see the top half.
Never got stopped once!
If I got stopped, I was planning on saying it had fallen off earlier and I\'m going to fix it back on.
Doubt you\'d get a fine the first time, although after the first warning you\'d have to stick one on I guess.
My brother doesn\'t have a front plate on his VX, and my RX won\'t have one either shortly...
One thing to note is you can be fined for no plate but fined and 3-points for an incorrect/damaged plate! Sensible eh?
I had no plate on mine for about 2 weeks and got followed and was about to be fined bu as my details checked out and they got a shout before he\'d put pen to paper I got away with it. Decided that it\'s better to have the plate than the hassle.

Hmm, I\'ve had a small front plate for about 6 months now and practically every time I go out in Norwich I go past a police car.
Haven\'t had any hassle so far, but that\'s probably tempted fate now :)
