Title: Radiator, Intercooler or oil cooler
Post by: Icesurf3r on November 05, 2004, 07:36:22 PM
Hi Guys

Have just about made my mind up on the rx i\'m going buy. This should hopefully leave me around £2K spare for further mods.

Below is a list of mods the car has already, plus i want to buy a uprated ecu and get it mapped, so what i really want to know is should i fit an uprated radiator, intercooler or oil cooler(s). Is there a specific order i should do them in? or is any order ok?

Has full Digital BLITZ ID boost controller system. (£1000.00)
1x blitz ID power meter (£800.00)
1x Greddy Boost gauge (£150)
Daisy chain DEFI controll unit with 3 gauge playback, (oil pressure, water temp and oil temp) (£1200)
1x Blitz multi function, turbo timer. (£300.00)
1x Blitz sequential blow off valve  (£300.00)
2x blitz twin airfilters (£300.00)
Jasma 4" cat back exhaust system (£800.00)
Uprated rear aero spoiler (£1200.00)
various uprated engine pipes pipes (£200.00)
Engine internals uprated (£1200.00)
18" Volk Racing alloy wheels  (£2500.00)
Full Alpine sound system including V12 amp, tweeter, uprated speaker all round. (£500.00)

Its a 95 M reg with 44,000 miles on clock.

below is a pic of the engine as it is now

For a lot less than 2k you will get the Apexi PFC, intercooler and rad. Plus leaving you a little left over for mapping.

Im guessing that the prices quoted are from the seller and Im also guessing the the car in the picure is the Tom Whitter race car that Rotecniks prepared.

Thought they were a little on the high side from the research i had done!

They are the prices and specs the dealer sent me.

Any links to websites where i can get the radiator, intercooler and ecu would be appreciated.  Plus if you know anyone round abouts the east Yorkshire area that could do the mapping; would all be greatly appreciated.!!

Thanks

Don\'t know who prepared the car g11ary, and as stated above yep, the seller quoted those figures in brackets.

Those prices sound a little high to me...let us know what your paying for it seller sounds like he might be bumping up the prices for some strange reason......there is a wealth of knowledge on here so its worth a shot!!!

Also not sure about the uprated engine internals bit....would like to know what they are????

Has it had a rebuild..if so when and what was done/Changed?

P.S Fish is right...subject to the engine being spot on  there is quite a lot you can do with 2k burning a hole in your pocket!!!!

Good luck

Ed

Part prices are steep, for example my Power ID cost £200.Ask to see receipt for engine internal work,if no receipt get one of the rotary tuners on here to compression test it,look over it first.

Gary, its not Toms motor,i think Grant has still got it,trying to sell it.It has uprated turbos,Motec M400 and HKS filters.

I did ask about that earlier in a different post. The car is up in Durham, so asked if anyone from around that area could look over it for me, but as yet not had any response.

So if anyone knows any rotary experts in that area can u please let me know

Cheers

I think theres 2 members of MRC in Durham but can\'t say if they know a great deal about the rx7\'s though???

Post it in the chat area asking "any members in Durham" and then ask them if they could check it out???;)

Pip at WGT in Northwich near Manchester is the furthest North that i know of.Speak to the guy/garage selling the car and tell him you want a an independent party of your choice to look over it.The cost is down to you normally, depends how much he wants to sell it, long shot but worth a try maybe.
Also if anything doesnt add up, receipts etc or your unsure dont buy it.Could be a dog and you end up with a rebuild within a few months.
Its worth paying one of the rotary tuners down here to come up and look at it if there isnt anyone near.Saving a few hundred quid could cost you dear in the end.IMO i would only use rotary tuning companies that are listed on here, you might use someone that says they know but doesnt really, be careful!!!!!!!

Durham? Is that just off A1 South of Newcastle?
